finally a new Fiesta RS Turbo owner :)

right everyone after the sale of the previous car fell through (less said the better) :wall:
i had a great bit of luck and dropped on this motor from a cracking guy from up cumbria :god:
its totally different spec wise to the white one i was going to get and i actually prefer that if im honest as its a lovely base to make a great car from and not ruin the oe looks/charm of it too much. :top:

its a 1990 car in red
totally standard engine wise apart from a receipt for some form of hybrid turbo
stainless system
lowered suspension
had a resto a few years ago and is in great shape nice and solid in all the usual areas.
also had an engine rebuild a few years ago

the car has not been on the road since 2014 but the current owner took the car for a pre mot on monday and it failed on the following

emissions too high
handbrake cable needs adjusting
spare wheel needs a tyre
one headlight not working
reverse light switch intermittent

and that was it so the plan is to give the car a real good full service including the following

oil and filter
ht leads and denso ik27 plugs
fuel filter
uprated frst fuel pump
coolant change
drive belt
cam belt and water pump kit
new set of wipers all round
new set of bulbs all round

the owner also informs me that the turbo will need a rebuild which is not a problem as it will go to my mate wilky for the said work and possibly a bit more of his magic work.

i also have my other mate who is a professional detailer booked in for the end of march to give the car a full paint correction detail and interior valet etc etc so the car will look spot on once done.

the plans are then to refit rebuilt turbo and then get the car an m.o.t. once this is done ill be calling msd for one of there set up sessions and if all well followed by there stage 3 conversion on the same day :)

looks wise with the car i dont really want to change anything apart from i think its crying out for the period 4" tailpipe on there :DD:

anyway enough babbling from me for now here are a few pics for you all

Sorry to hear the lifters are doing their own thing hope you get it sorted soon so you can enjoy the red rocket.

collected the car around 4.30pm and all i can say is wow what an amazing job Mark has done of setting it up.

fuelling is absolutely perfect and by far the best its been since iv owned the car, its nice to have it idling without absolutely smoking/stinking the place out.

Also the cam timing was advanced slightly as it felt a tad lazy and this has really made a nice difference to how it drives low down.

I had to come straight home from GT as i needed to fetch my son but i did manage to get the car for a couple of very quick bursts on full boost and it put a huge smile on my face, cant wait to give it a proper shakedown on saturday.

one very happy RS Turbo owner :)

All being well we are taking the car to its first classic car meet at a local pub tomorrow evening, this will be the first one as a family which is what the car was bought for to make plenty of memories with my wife and little lad.

One thing for sure is the wife will be driving it back home from the meet as ill be having a couple of pints no doubt haha

i will do my best to take a few pics for anyone interested

Today i have my good mate, Mat of OCD Productions coming over to Stoke to spend a day doing one of his amazing paint corrections on my car, since having it done back in 2016 its not really been touched detailing wise and is showing a fair few signs of wear n tear but nothing major.

i want to at least have the car looking something like decent ready for national day on the bank holiday weekend, Mat obviously has my full permission to take as many pics as he wants to and of course we can share them on here and on his fb business page :)

As promised here are the pics from sundays paint correction work, i really cant thank Mat enough for coming over to stoke and doing the work here. It was a pleasure to see a real master at work and the results are nothing short of amazing, it was actually good to see just how impressed Mat was as each panel was progressing.

Honestly if anyone on here is looking at any detailing work or even just a maintainance wash etc then look no further than OCD Productions (you can find them on facebook)

*please note engine bay and plastics still to be cleaned/treated *

finally got around to putting the walk around video onto youtube

hopefully this will give you a good idea of just how well its come out and the quality of work done

Received our wristbands and stand pass for the RS owners club national day. Ever since I went to my first national day in 1995 with my brother and his mates iv always wanted to have my own RS on a proper stand at the show.

Now finally after 3.5 years the car is ready for its proper outing.

Might not mean alot to most people but it means the world to me, And to have my wife and son along makes it extra special. First of many memories in the fiesta to be made.

Happy to report we got to our first national day in the car, had a really good day absolutely roasting hot, got so many people coming over to have a chat and very complimentary of the job thats been done on it :)

i can also report that car the really does shift now since going over to the stage 3 t3 and stage 3 chip etc really impressed with it

day starts off here

little man wanted his pic taken

her indoors had to join in

waiting at BP for the other staffs north rsoc members to convoy down with

then finally parked up on the staffs north stand ended up with 5 of us

and my favourite pic of the day

he was such a good lad really enjoyed himself especially seeing all the cars parked up and on track, and he certainly enjoyed the inflatable play area that the club put on :)

Already looking forward to attending a few more shows, just got a couple of little niggles to iron out and were good to go.

popped to see a good mate of mine the other weekend for a catch up and to take advantage of using his ramps etc at the garage

finally sorted the clutch pedal out after a few niggles, and also adjusted the exhaust system as it was knocking

not much else apart from that to report, although we are having some sort of boost issue, turbo seems very lazy only making around 5psi at 3k then doesnt hit full boost until 4k, so really flat as you can imagine, advanced cam timing but didnt make any real difference.

got a quick pic outside my mum n dads place after dropping my lad off

and a random one sat in the car waiting for my mate to arrive

Andy it sounds like it may be the gate not sealing or the gate controller spring being faulty.
You have good quality silicone hoses so it is doubtful that they have split so if they are all ok I an leaning more towards the wastegate being the culprit?

thats exactly what im thinking so the plan is to remove the pipe off the actuator then take it out for a drive, stick it in 3rd and see how it boosts

Andy I'm thinking that the gate actuator is not sealing/fully closed OR the spring is faulty and not keeping the gate fully closed while the boost pressure builds up to when it should start to open to bleed off any excess pressure.

Keep us posted as am interested to know what the fault turns out to be.

of course mate no worries

thats the only explanation we have currently as when it does finally make the boost its one hell of a strong turbo.

sat here recovering from my double hernia operation and just had a look back through this thread, its mad just how much you do and forget about no matter the size of the job, certainly has come a long way :)

Anyway im meant be able to drive after 2 weeks so i plan on having a drive over to my good mate Matt on either the 9-10th november shake a few cobwebs off and have a little catch up. Looking forward to a little boost over to wrexham as the drive from here is a good un lots of country roads etc.

also on another note plans are running wild between me and matt with where we are taking the engine/chassis on the car next (that lads a bad influence) haha

Sounds like you have been in the wars but are well on the mend now so have you sorted out the boost problem yet ?

Just a bit mate and my specialist has told me I need take 3 months off not 6 weeks like I was under the impression it would be.

Boost problem not sorted did the test on actuator etc and still the same. We will do a few more tests at some point but otherwise I'll continue to use the car as it is whilst we are building the other engine up over time.

Had to pop out to the garage earlier and sometimes you forget just how lucky you are to have a car you have wanted for many years sat in your garage.

We have hit many hurdles since purchasing in 2016 with this and with my health etc along the way.

Lots of hours hard graft gone into it and can't thank the people that have helped and continue to do so.

Loads of good times ahead with family and real good mates .

Anyway couldn't resist a few pics.

I envy you for having a stunning car!

thanks mate really appreciate that, its not concours by any means but its a good clean and honest example, took so much to get it here thats for sure.

Going to be doing a full underside restoration on the car at some point with my friends help at ocd productions

Going to be adjusting the newman solid lifters this coming saturday, and iv also bought a brand new .36 housing for my t3 so we can drop it down to stage 2, as stage 3 way just way too lazy for how i want the car.
That will be getting fitted at the same time then it will be a matter of a run out have a check over of afr/boost etc make sure all is ok.

Iv also purchased a simpson over the box exhaust manifold that will be going on the car at some point, good thing is its already been heatwrapped so saved a faffing job :)

The car will be going for MOT in April but im hoping to get out and do a few miles in it before then and will be attending plenty of shows locally and nationally, even more so now my older brother purchased a mk1 Focus RS in January

On the 21st March we got around to fitting the .36 t3 exhaust housing along with a couple of roose motorsport red coolant hoses.

Also the newman solid lifters were adjusted and the car now sounds perfect again, we did notice that there was a bit of excessive play in a couple of the rockers so im going get a set of new rocker arm seat/pivots (may as well do the lot).

I have also bought a Simtek pro ecu complete with the comms lead for what worked out as half price of new so very happy with that and after seeing just what it can do on matts s2 rs turbo monster i cant wait to get it set up and start playing
:)

as always im bloody crap when it comes to taking pics but luckily my good mate rsmat took a shed load for us top man.
Please note on the downpipe pic the plastic zip tie was only fitted as a temp measure its now removed and replaced with correct metal one.

Hope your all staying safe in these bloody mental times and if anything it might be giving people that spare time needed to push whatever jobs/projects you have not been able to do otherwise.

anyway enough babble heres the pics
