finally a new Fiesta RS Turbo owner :)

right everyone after the sale of the previous car fell through (less said the better) :wall:
i had a great bit of luck and dropped on this motor from a cracking guy from up cumbria :god:
its totally different spec wise to the white one i was going to get and i actually prefer that if im honest as its a lovely base to make a great car from and not ruin the oe looks/charm of it too much. :top:

its a 1990 car in red
totally standard engine wise apart from a receipt for some form of hybrid turbo
stainless system
lowered suspension
had a resto a few years ago and is in great shape nice and solid in all the usual areas.
also had an engine rebuild a few years ago

the car has not been on the road since 2014 but the current owner took the car for a pre mot on monday and it failed on the following

emissions too high
handbrake cable needs adjusting
spare wheel needs a tyre
one headlight not working
reverse light switch intermittent

and that was it so the plan is to give the car a real good full service including the following

oil and filter
ht leads and denso ik27 plugs
fuel filter
uprated frst fuel pump
coolant change
drive belt
cam belt and water pump kit
new set of wipers all round
new set of bulbs all round

the owner also informs me that the turbo will need a rebuild which is not a problem as it will go to my mate wilky for the said work and possibly a bit more of his magic work.

i also have my other mate who is a professional detailer booked in for the end of march to give the car a full paint correction detail and interior valet etc etc so the car will look spot on once done.

the plans are then to refit rebuilt turbo and then get the car an m.o.t. once this is done ill be calling msd for one of there set up sessions and if all well followed by there stage 3 conversion on the same day :)

looks wise with the car i dont really want to change anything apart from i think its crying out for the period 4" tailpipe on there :DD:

anyway enough babbling from me for now here are a few pics for you all

my very good mate karl sent me these few pics last night

the car spending its 1st night at its new temporary home until we move into our new place around mid march time, karl also has a cover to go on the car but we couldnt stick it on yesterday as the weather was typically british

then he got a couple of when the car was being delivered thats me taking pics myself, i had literally finished work 20 mins before the car was delivered, i was a tad exited to say the least

some pics from sunday, turbo/intercooler and charge pipe removed its safe to say the seals were shot to hell in the turbo.

and i helped prep the rear underside of karls camper ready for paint nexrt week]

turbo is now away with my mate for a rebuild and a bit of hybrid magic as we speak

Wow it looks like you've got a great one there buddy.

Thanks for the updates and pictures and I look forward to your future updates.

Cheers mate should have some more updates this weekend.
We are going try and get the car ready for march 20th as there is a local classic car show on that day

That looks sweet. Inside looks in good nick too. Once you've got those bits sorted it'll be a belter.

Get some decent security on it though, I'd hate to think of it being nicked by some scrote and ruined.

cheers mate yeah the interior is in really good condition for something that is nearly 26 years old.

security is already sorted it has a clifford alarm and iv also got a steering wheel brace, plus the garage it will be living in is also alarmed and im having a post fitted into the floor of the entrance of the garage that can only be removed by a master key :)

Sorry Andy, been double busy and missed the updates :(

You must be well chuffed young man, it clearly lives up to the dream |B

Love the security measures, it looks like you have stopped just short of hiring Arnie to stand outside on guard of your new baby ;)...

You could also fit a removable steering wheel if you wanted even more peace of mind when parked at home or on overnight stays when away from home/at work etc.

really cant stress how happy i am fella, off to work on the car this morning also :)

haha i also forgot to add that cctv will be added at the house also :)

thats a very good idea pal and im going to seriously consider that :)

update from yesterday

new ht leads and plugs fitted, throttle bodie removed and cleaned out (needs new gasket that we cant find anywhere).
removed front wheels to investigate brakes and confirms it needs new discs and pads, we are also going to fit new rear brake shoes/cylinders whilst were at it.

fitted new bonnet release handle as original was broke, investigated some dodgy wiring for the horn which will be repaired/replaced.

today the new fuel filter will be fitted and we are going to investigate the reason behind drivers headlight not working also heaters dont seem to work so something else to look at

There is always a few things needing attention with older cars and you just have to work thru them to get it exactly the way you want.

bit of an update nothing major though

ordered and received new exhaust manifold, rocker cover and throttle bodie gaskets plus sump plug and washer from matt lewis, really nice guy and super quick delivery :)

iv ordered my new front discs and pads from ecp iv gone for the brembo's as iv always been impressed with there stuff down the years.

my front and rear strut braces arrived on weds from a sale over on facebook bit of a bargain also :)

iv also paid for what i feel is a mod thats got to be done, a scorpion backbox with the proper period 4" tailpipe and that should be with me sometime next week.

4 new uniroyal rainsport 3 tyres have been ordered and will be here with me next week also.

we are hoping to get a bit done on the car this weekend and id imagine i will be getting my turbo returned to me at the back end of next week which im really looking forward to as bernie has some nice ideas of what he going to do to it :)

nothing too major to update on other than my tyres arrived on monday also new front brakes have arrived.

oh and i also forgot to mention this turned up today :)

now it will look and sound like an rs turbo should do :)

I had a scorpion system on mine. I loved it. The sound is as you say a true RS Turbo.

On another note, Scorpion Exhausts are a local company to me. Infact their factory is just down the road.
When I was a kid they had a small factory in Pinxton where my mums still lives. :)

Glad you agree matey they just dont make systems to sound like this anymore ill be sure to get a nice vid of it.
Thats cool about the factory should of popped down and stuck a deal on a load of rst exhausts haha
I live near Ford in Dagenham or what is left of it :(

Such a shame fella drives me mad thinking of all the places that have gone or are going

got a nice update for you all

my hybrid t2 is all built up and ready to come back to me courtesy of wilky (bernies blowers) and its a proper bernie special.

consists of 360 bearing, escort cosworth t28 comp wheel and nissan t28 turbine all machined into oe housings so should make for a nice turbo and keep the oe look :)

Stealth mode look, I like it :)

thats the plan here matey the oe set up on these is really low lag and proper good point to point cars, i just want the same but more of it, i could of gone the usual t3 conversion etc but that would mean more lag and lose the characteristics of the fiesta rst

well after a long lay off of being able to work on the car me and my good mate karl finally got chance to do some more work on it, everything was going really well until we fount that my banjo bolt for the turbo oil feed hadnt been sent back so scuppered everything as that needs fitting in order to complete the other jobs.

but we got the following done

firstly had to take a pic of the car and engine before we started

removed rocker cover and fitted new rocker cover gasket as old one was split and slight leak to it.

all nice and clean under there

also fitted new amal valve

got the turbo and manifold built back up

new exhaust manifold gasket and 5 new manifold studs, all being fitted with new nuts and washers.

the cleaned throttle bodie and throttle cable have been refitted (didnt get a pic of this)

fitted new front discs and pads
old

new

check it out iv got brembos haha :)

and a pic of how the car sat before we left it, obviously was covered back up

i am hoping to receive banjo bolt from wilky asap so we can get the turbo fitted and then all related parts

well this is an update thats happened much quicker than we thought, banjo bolt was fount and we were able to get the car put back together and up and running :) she now has new 10/50 oil and filter in there and new coolant as well.

didnt get many pics as it was typically british weather but did get this

and this taken by karls wife when doing the oil change

oh and a small video of the 1st start up (shes alive)
http://vid428.photobucket.com/album...loads/2016-04/20160424_131108_zpsk1zg69ns.mp4

looking forward to fitting the scorpion rear box to give it that proper rst sound.

well we have another really good set of updates so here goes

on the evening 4th May i managed to get a few unplanned hours on the car and this is what was done

fitted new fuel filter
fitted replacement brake master clylinder and put new brake fluid in
managed to have a play and set the co at idle and all i can say without a gauge/machine it a mile better smells alot less rich and sounds much more like a cvh turbo.

tomorrows jobs are the following

fit drivers side headlight bulb
sort the horn as not working and looks like its been bodged to make work in the past
check handbrake as it might need a tighten up
bleed brake system and top up accordingly
if get time refit rear view mirror and take a look at why reverse light isnt working.

oh yeah and the big news is that the car is booked in for its m.o.t at 2pm on Saturday 7th May and regardless of result the car will be coming back to my place for the 1st time since i have owned it :)

Cheers matey we have still gotta get the horn working as it is a real bodge job wiring wise and also bleed the brakes.
Just up at ford in crewe with my mate whilst he gets his 180bhp aircooled vw beetle an mot

my good mate karl sent me these few pics of the car at the weekend, i think hes developed a crush on the little fiesta :DD:

yes i know the backbox is off centre (soon to be removed and replaced with scorpion) and also the paintwork is booked in to be fully paibt corrected soon also :)

an update on the car, it didnt end up going for mot due to me feeling unwell but the good news is horn and headlights were sorted and the brakes were bled, i also managed to get across last night and fit a new alternator belt and refit the spare wheel into its proper place.
we are now just waiting on 2 relays from ebay and the car is good to go this coming saturday at 10am for the rescheduled mot
