Diesels? On Torquecars, Really?

Can ‘Diesel’ Really Be Part of Our Vocabulary?
Looking forward to a new year always requires a look back at the trends that developed last year. What was cutting edge in the automotive industry in the first 6 months of 2006 is bound to be main stream come August.

Chip Tuning – better engine management.

The days of fiddling around in the engine bay with a spanner to make the car go faster are numbered.

Modern engine computers (ECU’s) take over many of the controls of all aspects of engine management from timing to fuelling and more.

This actually means you get better power, a cleaner burn and more reliable engine but it does not mean the end of tuning.

Adding a supercharger

We look at adding a supercharger to a NASP (naturally aspirated) engine and focus on the main problem areas and considerations encountered in a tuning project of this scope.

There are lots of pitfalls and this is not a “bolt in on and hope it works” modification as many other things need to be done to make this work safely and reliably.

Fuelling uprating the fuel system

More power means that more fuel is required so we need to uprate the fuel system and we look at performance mods for your fuelling to avoid running rich or lean.

It is essential to keep the mix of air to fuel exactly right. Power is lost when the engine adjusts itself to stop it running too rich or lean. Many power losses, which manifest themselves as flat spots, at certain points in the rev band can often be traced to a fuelling issue so we will look at performance fuelling upgrades and parts.
