Reboring engines
You can increase the power of an engine by increasing its capacity. This is a fairly involved process and requires a good deal of research and preparation. Unless you want to have to retrace your steps and go a different route midway in to the job.
Some of TorqueCars.com members have had their engines rebored ,and this does seem a good way to increase power. However there are a few things we should take into account.
Twin scroll turbos
We look at the advantages of twin scroll turbos, discuss how they work and how to set them up. People have used twin turbos in the past to address many of the problems you hit with a single turbo and the twin scroll turbo offers a neat drop in upgrade and provides many advantages.
Stage 1,2,3 tunes or remaps and mods
We wish people would stop using stage to describe a tuning option or plan but while they do we’ll define here what we mean and expect when we talk about the term.
We get asked so much about this that we wanted to spell out what we mean and most car modders mean when talking about stage 1, 2 or 3 tunes or remaps and mods. We look at the various stages of tune/remap available and the mods that would work best on stage 1, 2 and 3 upgrades. Each level of tune/remap carries risks and drawbacks so we will outline them here.
