VR6 auto gearbox swap?

Hi Guys,
Have got my eye on a VR6 coming up for sale, owned by a family member... Only problem for me apart from cosmetics is that it is an automatic. Does anybody know/have experience of converting these to a manual box - I did it myself once years ago on an opel manta and have bad memories of fabricating new mountings and all sort of nonsense - hoping the VR6 will be an easy swap. What do you think?

IIRC the automatics are deeply embedded in the ECU. Is it the paddle shift auto box? These are actually pretty good, I think you will like it as it is.

No, sadly it's not the paddle shift box :-(
Not really that keen on the idea of an automatic anyway...
would consider it if one fell in my lap - reading other stuff here is prob not worth it anyway in mk3 but thanks for your help
