Gearbox ratio's

Hi guys

I drive a 1986 Golf 1300. The car came standard with a 4 speed box and I want to fit a 5 speed box, but don't know what the ratio should be that is going to work well on the 1300 lump.

If you are increasing the engine power it shouldnt matter too much. What car is the doner box from?
