yea i didnt say the boxes is always better its just less work and i though no roar no hint to the power and also you are ensured the cold air rather than moving the filter to cold air bring the cold air to the filter but i would have the roar to :D haha

Primera? fwd transverse mounted yes? Fuel injection and what sort of bhp is it as standard. Alloy engine and box?

How much and where? ;)

I think it's around 130bhp standard. But these engines are so tunable.
The engine code is SR20de. Dunno if it's alloy or not? The car is located 1 minute away from junction 28 of the M1. The car itself is being advertised for £350 or near offer. So make me an offer. The car still has T&T so is still driveable. And yep it's the Primera's engine....

Sounds like it could be a good donor, but a bit too far to travel at present, a 400 mile round trip. I'll think about it cheers.

Sorry been slacking, just read the whole thread & the car's looking good. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.:D

Cheers mate. :D I've got a list as long as my arm for things to do... I dunno where to start...lol. I've seen some angel eyes for it so I may get some in january as my lights are rubbish and 1 side the casing is broke so it needs replacing anyway so i'll replace with angel eyes.;):D:D:D

just in from the freezing coldits icy here this morn in dublin, that bloody rear left caliper was seized onto the disc and has carved the disc to the bone.i had the mechanic replace it once before but the bloody new caliper he put on was seized again!!! its under warranty so im bringin it back i think itl need a new disc but hes paying for it,its under warranty!!! i pumped the brake pedal while the caliper was of and the piston was moving but ive now got no brake pressure and air nin the lines so before i clamp the piston back in i have t go get b fluid and bleed the bloody lines,im gonna use my birds car cause ive had enough of that car for the minute ill get back to it tommorow.im gonna drive it back to him with the seized brake i dont care how much it shreds the disc cause hes paying forit its the third time ive been out there and he still has replace the tyres he put on cause ther was a slow puncture in 2 of them!!!!!!!! its a pity because the cars like brand new!!! and only 40000 miles when i got it,i need the whole allignment done aswell,im so fukin pissd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Engine cleaning is a very slow process as most things are very hard to get at.... Take your time with it an you'll get there in the end. When cleaning in your engine bay warm the engine up first an most of the grime will come off easier. But beware as on some cars when the engine is warmed up the rad fans can come on without the ignition being on so beware when cleaning near the rad....

Thanks for thadvice mate any ideas of where the best place is to start?

Start at the top mate and work your way down. I've been known to also use a tooth brush with some warm soapy water. Engine degreaser is the best stuff though but you may need a few cans....I alway start with the open spaces where I can access easily....

Ok I've also noticed on your Rover thread that you cleaned your air filter,I've heard that the best way to clean these is some water and a little bit of petrol is this true?

Is yours similar to mine? All I used was a bucket of hot soapy water. I let it soak for a while then rinsed it off with my shower.....After that I left it on the radiator to dry. Depending on the filter though.....

I think mine is simular to yours if I get some pics would you be able to tell me?

Well I got a bit bored today so I prepared the Power Cap and Amps with some fresh wire. I will tie the wires down to the box to tidy it up before it goes in. But I should be puttin it all in tomorrow.... I've posted 2 pictures up the first is the untidy install in the Primera and the second is the New Tidy wired sub box waitin patiently on my kitchen floor to go in the car.....

lol looks better less wire less resistance may be minimal change but oh well lol

The shorter the power an earth wires the better for the power cap. An seeing as the battery is in th boot the power wire doesn't have to be long. So in theory my system should sound a better quality in the Ti than it did in the Primera.... All these little things help..:D

Proper job! :D

Ahh water leaks, I know that one! I've cured one just four more to find now!
The ABS light & the water leak might connected (no pun intended!) see if there's any sign of water near the fuse board. Happy hunting!

Yep will do but it's staying where it is for now anyways. I've swiped me mum's Discovery for now.

the car is coming along nicely mate, fair play

Cheers mate the real work starts soon.. I think i've decided to buy a head gasket kit which includes all turbo seal an such. And have the engine stripped down to see if anything needs replacing and rebuilt again. Not sure whether or not to do it myself or send it to a specialist?

if you can do the work yourself, do it, just tip away at it, you'll save a fortune

you can do it yourself, if there's anything you don't know, the internet can help a lot, you can get so many manuals for free, and by the way, i am sure here's someone that know's how to help you.

I think the rebuild is coming quicker than expected. The Turbo has decided to fail... If I have to replace it though i'm chucking a T28 in it's place. But anyway while the turbo is off I may as well do the head gasket and cam belt and all other gaskets and such. If I can source some while its in bits I might add some cams and lighter pulleys...But oh joy a rebuild on my hands.....
