And the spending starts again lol. Bought a pair of poly top mounts and about to invest in a full polybush set think the car will need them as its going get some track action hopefully sooner rather than later.

got a few little updates

fuelling is now spot on were running around 22-24psi (my boost gauge only goes up to 20 lol) need get a new un the gauges i bought off egay are pathetic

spec of carb is
125 main
1.3mm 2nd stage
0.9 air corrector
2mm needle
standard venturi

afrs are brilliant and this time at the dyno day will have no probs doing 3 good runs .

bought a set of braided brake hoses a while back and forgot id got them haha so going get them fitted within the next 2 weeks, also had to get another uj for my steering wheel as mine had play in it again that will be fitted asap.
Got a noise coming from rear drivers side when braking so im thinking maybe wheel bearing? as the discs and pads are only about 3k old.
all in all am absolutely loving the car atm and cant wait to see what power it produces on 23rd july as after that the .63 t2 rear will be getting machined to take a t25 turbine wheel more power ;)

well guys rtoc had there day at santa pod today, iv heard a rumour that a certain r5 did 10.2, and glenn with his efi converted c1j did 11.06 (this beats his best of 11.09).

this has got me and my tuner up for a challenge of gaining the quickest 1/4 mile carb fed c1j which currently stands @ 11.14 uk record is 11.41, you must admit these are hugely impressive times for which is an old 60s design 1.4 8v push rod engine.

the 11.14 time uses 150bhp of nitrous the 11.41 uses no nitrous, we think we can beat the 11.41 without using nitrous and even have a good go at the faster time as we have a couple of little secrets up our sleeves engine wise which i cant reveal.
I can reveal that we will be making the car as light as possible though within reason as im keeping the rear seats due to my gorgeous neice loving my car
weight loss will be done with the following

fibreglass roof, bonnet, front wings, boot and doors along with poly carb windows all around including boot. any wiring in the loom etc that can be removed will be, also we will experiment with lightweight alloys iv seen mixed feedback on this as people say they hinder a 0-60 time but gain you good time on a track, its all trail and error i suppose.

keep your eyes peeled on this as its going to get interesting

also for all you detailing guys iv just invested in a pot of dodo juice supernatural hybrid wax and poorboys black hole glaze, heard nothing but good things about these products so should be interesting to see results

i attended the cholmondeley pageant of power a couple of weeks ago and all i can say is what a great event that is, in fact ill stick a link up to my pics/vids album for you all

http://s428.photobucket.com/albums/qq4/bluntyn40/cholmondeley pageant of power 2011/

as you may know it was one of my many dyno days that i organise on sat 23rd july i didnt run my car on the day but here are the results.

chris - r5 gt turbo 674.7bhp - 497.1 lb/ft
fraser - sierra sapphire cosworth 507.9bhp - 435.3 lb/ft
john - sierra sapphire cosworth 483.1bhp - 471.3 lb/ft
troy - seat leon cupra 383.6bhp - 420.3 lb/ft
ste - r5 gt turbo 224.3bhp - 199 lb/ft
ranj - r5 gt turbo 207.5bhp - 183 lb/ft
steve - audi a3 1.8t 180.8bhp - 202 lb/ft
alex - r5 gt turbo 132.2bhp - 136.8 lb/ft
alan - r5 gt turbo 128.6bhp - 149.7 lb/ft

some impressive results there am sure you would agree

was a shame i couldnt run and also hi5 as well defo next time for the pfc featured event iv organised.

as you can see scoff broke yet another record unreal car which i have a link to a vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apEfc_f8ozQ

we also broke a world record for a t38 powered car with frasers sapphire rs cosworth hitting 507bhp the previous record was 480bhp in an evo so i believe.

was also very impressed with ste's c1j powered r5gtt hitting 224bhp at just 18psi and this was leaning out to 13.7afr so by just getting some fuel in there should break 23o at what is a very low psi level for a 5gtt to hit that power.

as for plans on my car there aint much to report really apart from ill be up at wgt next month to get my car on the dyno see whats what and then change the turbine wheel from t2 to t25 ready for the pfc featured dyno day iv organised for october.

iv covered a few miles in the car recently and love every minute of it am really pleased with the big brake conversion its made it such a better car, i will be uprating the pads all round to ds2000 soon though.

got a few pics of my car sunday at world series renault, i was parked on the collectors area. also have to say the car performed faultless on a 200 mile round trip and it was driven rather spirited at times haha, got alot of respect off other drivers giving me thumbs up etc

also got a new air filter to replace the pipercross viper

hoping to get the car on a dyno asap so i can see the power its making before i change the rear turbine wheel in the turbo

well after a few delays we finally fitted my new turbo a couple weeks ago, and my god what a difference its made, the car was quick before but now its in a total different league it actually took me by surprise on how quick it was eg spinning the wheels in 3rd in the dry . Only gained around 200rpm lag which i am impressed with seeing as iv gone from a t2 turbine in the .63 t2 housing up to a t28 turbine (yes t28)and shaft.
so its now all systems go for next months dyno day at wgt cant wait to see how it goes.
But early impressions are its going produce some impressive figures estimated at least 230-240bhp and it certainly performs as it has seen off a lightly modded subaru impreza sti and a 300bhp astra vxr with relative ease tbh :)

Marvellous stuff, you should be very proud with what you have accomplished with this pocket rocket of yours ;)

erm its a bit handy to say the least haha ;), its my sort of daily as iv got my escort van for work and pottering about then got the car when i fancy a play.

car should be capable of low to mid 12 1/4s at my power levels so its a very quick car, the new turbo spec is so violent its whiplash time once it girds its loins haha

cheers fella i see you fount another video of my run ;)

will make a tad more as it was running really rich 10.8afr might see another 5 or so bhp

yeah glenns 402bhp c1j caught fire twice nothing serious though one of the breather pipes had a little split in it and was chucking a bit of vapor on the manifold

did you see scoffs record breaking 749bhp r5gtt?

iv got a few vids and pics put up when i get 5

Yeah I originally came across a photo of your car on the dyno and thought "hang on, sure I recognise that car", then it led me to finding the vids. I am DEAD JEL of your car tbh, it just looks cool as owt.

so then guys i suppose your probably wondering where ill go with the car next eg tuning etc well firstly iv just got this big jim racing 2.5" all in one downpipe/elbow which gets rid of that bloody restrictive turbo elbow.

this will be fitted and mated to a brand new full 2.5" longlife system with 3.5" tailpipe. the reports i here on the bjr downpipe are really good.

we are also going to be fitting group a valves into my cylinder head which should work great with the ported head, cam and new exhaust set up all helping get the gasses through quicker. Looking at water/meth injection as well as were looking at running 28-30psi boost for 1/4 mile events etc.

x2

cheers matey its nice when people give such respect to these cars :), were looking at doing quite a few runs at santa pod and track days next year. At my power level that im at a 12.7 can be done but with the few new mods im hoping we can get into the low 12s and eventually hit a 12 dead.

cheers fella i think its already arrrived into the pocket rocket territory lol just these last few things to do then ill be happy ...... for a while ;) i cant see why it cant make around 245bhp at same boost level and who knows what at 28/30psi

Out of curiosity Blunty, I assume there are Renault 5 clubs in France? have you ever thought of going over there with your marvellous chariot and representing GB in a show? I think you would do very well over there! ;)

funnily enough RTOC are sorting some sort of road trip meet with some french members next year and all being well i shall be attending with the good mrs :) it will do alot better in a show once we sort all the little inperfections in the bodywork out over winter ;) thank you for the kind words its amazing the amount of good feedback i get on the car

Some lovely looking 5's on there, tell me, what is photo number 12 in the album?
I like that one a lot but have no idea what it's called :)

bit of a boring update compared to normal but just had my insurance renewal through off footman james at £393 (classic policy) was £324 last year, i then noticed that my policy states 6000 miles which is way too many.
So i called them up stated i wanted to change that to 3000 miles and i couldnt believe the difference £204.42.
Im absolutely over the moon i even rang around a few other companies eg graham sykes and hic, sykes wanted £363 and hic £406

gotta love classic policies :)
