my leon cupra

i was originally planning selling the leon but after doing an online valuation and looking on autotrader my car has dropped in value by a £1000 within a year :amazed: plus the £3000+ i have spent on it so i have decided im keeping her and going the full hog and making her even better

engine wise i am with the performance at the moment but in the future the next step would be a turbo upgrade but this wont happen for a long time yet

so im going to be looking at spending my money on looks and handling this is what im aiming for on the front i have received the light eyebrows just waiting for the grills to turn up then will decide about the lower splitter then its of to a mate of a mate for colour coding and judging from my mates car the bloke does a good job and all for the price of £200 wich sounds pretty good to me :D

and when i can find the time i will finish my wheels off these are the few changes ive made so far
when i bought them

then changed the inserts and centre cap black

then after putting them on the car realised they were to bling for my liking so changed them again to this body coloured with gloss inserts and matt faces not the best pic but i think you can get the general idea

and then being over fussy their was some orange peel on 2 of the wheels so rubbed them down as gentle as i could did th first 1 perfect but on the 2nd rubbed a bit to far and down to the primer so instead of going through the hassle of all the masking up again i decided just to go for a black gloss finish and this is how they sit in the garage at the minute awaiting a few more coats of lacquer

i love the green wheels :D they look ace not keen on green engine though got for the black and chrome engine

Nice stuff,

You can't see a lot in those picture so I can't really say much on the rear wishbone thing. I would have thought though that the wide part goes on top.
it turned out there where instructions in the box it pays to look:embarrest:

cheers massive:bigsmile:

having a bit of free time today i decided to search again for my elusive boost leak and i found 1. this time in this part (something for you to check pg;))
DSC00331.jpg
all clean
DSC00326.jpg
then some air pushed through (via my lungs;))
DSC00327.jpg
with being skint i cant afford to replace the part. so i have decided to refit the catch tank but this time removing the pcv valve and pipe work. i'll be doing this tomorrow but today i decided where im going to mount the catch tank. so found a nice place where im going to hide it so took some rough measurements and cut to extend where im hiding it
DSC00333.jpg
and then first layer of p40
DSC00334.jpg
its going to need another layer. then the idea is to use fibre glass resin to extend the depth of the cover. so when finished the only clue its there will be the 2 pipes going to it.

Nice idea to hid the catch can.

i need to go through all mine and check then, saying that ive still got to fit my TIP, sparks and get new coil packs ordered up

well i thought it would be a little different plus if i ever get the money to carry on with my car. i would love to go down the smoothed bay route but i cant see that happening anytime this year:sad2:

i carried on with the tank and cover today first of all was meshing to extend the cover
DSC00336.jpg
next was to to use the fibre glass and resin to strengthen the mesh then 2 layers of p40
DSC00343.jpg
then i rubbed it down smooth and fitted:bigsmile:

DSC00351.jpg
so now i know it all fits together nicely i need to get some p38 and primmer then i can spray it up.
i also need to get some 4mm bolts. cause the plan is to drill and tap into the tank and use the 2 screw holes in the cover to secure it into place;)
and to add to the ever growing list of things i need to get is a new hockey puck (no idea what its real name is) but its a check valve and air is freely flowing in both directions. and i need a new maf its been on its way out for a while but now its dead:sad2:

its where you declutter your engine bay for example
from this

Has he? Or are they just not there yet LOL. It's missing a few hoses at least! Hiding the catch tank is a nice idea. Looks good now I'm off to watch waking the dead :D

i would love to have a smooth engine bay, have no idea where to start :s battery to boot.... err thats it :p where do you hide everything :s arent wires and hoses there for a reason

Little update the leon is of the road ready for some changes;);) this will be happening slowly cause funds/time dont really allow me to do it all in 1 go:sad2: (unless T9 wants to donate to the poor painter who wants a nice car foundation???)
The aim is a nice clean car for evening and weekend fun and use the legacy for work.

Plans Stage1
new suspension (thinking 30mm spax psx kit)
fit all the poly bushes ive had lying around for 2 plus years:embarrest:
refurbish and fit new brakes
take of and test every boost pipe/vac line and replace as necessary
new wheels 17" (not sure what style yet?)
replace a few other bits that are needed
lower front brace
rear arb
clean the car interior properly (remove all evidence of work use)

hopefully get all this done ready for some summer fun

Plans for Stage2 (will be announced if all goes to plan with stage1 )

Nevermind mate. Maybe another time.

its been along time updating this wip cause of weather/funds, time and lazyness, but it will be back on the road within the next few months! plans are cosmetic and handling so first of all the leather interior is coming out and will be for sale as will the GTI wheels and brembo's after a refurb this will all add to the pot.
interior wise ill replace with a standard interior but with all the plastics sprayed black (i never liked the 3 different plastic colours!!)

handling ill be changing the suspension (not sure yet but not coilovers) fitting the rest of my poly bushes and fitting a rear arb

these are the prioritys to get it back on the road!

other things i want to do this year are (but not priority)
engine bay do the bay black and white like the 1 pictured a few pages back

Exterior wise get rid of all the rub strips and smooth the doors (not sure if im going to dehandle all yet might just do the rears) and smooth all the bumpers

Now to get it back on the road i havent set myself a mammoth task on purpose cause funds and time are really short especially for a weekend toy, but i am determined to do it just to feel boost again:bigsmile:
