Good news indeed, remember to let me know when you have collected the car and where the first show your going to display it at will be! :)
As long as it does not clash with The Saab owners club International in August or Swedish Day in May or my 50th birthday in May, then rest assured buddy I shall be there with my camera cheering you on

defo 100% will do matey, its first outing will fingers crossed be at the r5 gt turbo owners group's rolling road day in april.

will defo be at quite a few shows cholmondeley pageant of power in june is already booked in.

well i finally went up to see my car for the first time in 2013 tbh its not far off at all now, all the floor pan is finished, drivers inner/outter sill is finished, new jacking point is on.
my mate has discovered another hole pretty high up in drivers footwell which will of course be sorted.

just gotta fit the new drivers door and then we can start thinking of getting the car in the paintshop.

Good news indeed buddy, can I ask a small question about the underside floor metal work. On the inside of the car I assume the metal will be just primered and then sprayed body colour, but what do you do with the underside of the floor ie. the surface nearest the road, is this primered, sprayed then covered in some sort of underseal?

of course you can matey, right here goes

inside will be primered and painted then have liquid rubber applied, underside will be the same but will prob use stonechip then liquid rubber to seal it.

small bits of updates guys

i got up to the car a couple of weekends ago and did a morning welding with my mate, am back up there this saturday to finish off the last little bits then we should be ready for paint.

also sent my turbo off to my mate who is fitting me a billet comp wheel which he guarantees will make more power than my existing one hes also fitting me new bearings whilst hes got it apart and of course balancing it all up.

iv got a rolling road event organised for 20th april so ideally id love the car be ready for that, it might mean i wont get the nodiz ignition fitted/mapped in time but that can come after along with the roller rockers.

only a very brief one im mega busy with work and personal life atm so am trying to balance things as much as possible, work/personal will have take back seat for a few weeks i think ;)

so i went up the garage yesterday and did 4 hours with my mate all welding is now completed all seat mounts in place etc, he is going do some more on it through the week eg apply sealer/paint inside etc and generally get it ready for finishing.

also sent my door cards and rear trim off to be flocked in original grey colour

will be going up to the garage this saturday to hopefully fit most of the interior back into the car, my mate has painted/sealed all inside and also all been undersealed with liquid rubber

im starting to see the light at end of tunnel

another morning working on the car yesterday, really starting come together now, put the new sound proofing in the car underlay ftw very light and looks really neat tbh.

i also then painted the handbrake lever and the pedals as they were a bit tired, got some new rubber pedal covers on order from mike to go on.
We were going to re fit the carpet and start putting some of the interior back in but i took the carpet home to wet vac it and my god was it filthy done it twice it was that bad.
my mate also has his car up at gt motorsport having alot of engine work/nodiz install etc being done and he took a random pic of the 2 motors together, both cars have attracted alot of attention according to the guys who run the garage as they are such a rare sight nowadays.

The only Renault 5 I'd ever seen, before yours Blunty, was in Ali-G in da house... Where they street race to the legal speed limit! Cracks me up even thinking about it! They're terribly underrated though... Some of the power figures they create are mental, especially being a 1.4? Gorgeous car, and great update mate!

The silver one in the film was created by Jamie Shaw at Carisma automotive.
Had around 280 bhp. At the time he built it it was the most powerful R5 GT in the UK. ;)
The poor defenseless 1.4.

Jamie Shaw's was a master piece in it's first incarnation. I agree that in the film it went down hill with that stupid split rear window.
Now I think about it didn't Jamie manage 350 odd bhp?

cheers guys appreciate the kind words, should hopefully have most the interior back in this weekend
i wont comment on them cars then i wont offend ;)

Wow... I had no idea the silver one was an actual R5 GT, and at 280bhp thats crazy! I just thought it was typical Sacha Baron Cohen satire!

No it was real. It went through a lot of changes to get to how it was in the film.
At the time it was built everyone with an r5 wanted the same body kit. But that was when body kits was in fashion.
An I'm pretty sure after thinking it that it was closer to 350bhp.

Iirc it did run nos.
At the time it was a massive hit on the max power scene. Back when max power was all the rage.
I'll see if I can find the feature on it. I'm sure it made near on 350hp.

had an update from phoenix autosport who are doing my flocking, my door cards and rear sections are virtually finished ill upload the pics once they are complete.

been buying a few bits and bobs, have bought new aerial mount, new clear front and side indicators and am looking into getting brand new headlights and rear lights.
think these bits will really finish the car off once its been sprayed

update on the resto

got the carpet fitted, gearbox back in place, sorted a whole mount of messy wiring out, both seat mounts fitted plus both seats fitted. hoping get other bits and bobs done asap.

popped round the garage on way back from the gym got a couple of quick pics of the front seats back in the car (yes i know they aint in the best condition but my funds wont allow to buy new uns until end of the year).
