Most influential car game

Following up on the recent most influential car film I wondered what is the most influential car game?

What racing game got you into cars or got you interested in tuning?

I think for me it was one of the early Gran Turismo games (GT2) although I have owned every Need For Speed franchise game I think underground 2 was the best and most "realistic" as far as modding options went.

I've always been into modded cars as far as I can remember. Didn't need a game to influence me I just love modding anyway.

Gran Turismo, the original driving simulator :blink1: I must have spent sooo many hours at my mates hunched over a control pad, reading all the scrolling text about engine tuning etc!The entire series of GT is amazing, just a pity i haven't touched a playstation for over a year...but then i have been playing with real cars lately lol

I play racing games because I love cars, I don't love cars because of racing games so it's hard to say. Proper arcade games with manual gears etc I used to love at the age of 14 ish.
