Thaugts on the S-10 single cab

Hansi,

They are okay. Very old-tech cast-iron V6. The 4.3 V6 is almost literally an SBC 350 V8 with two of the cylinders missing.

These trucks are much better with either the 4.8 or 5.3 V8 (Gen 3, or Gen 4 after 2006). Or even better, the 6.0Litre Gen 3 (engine code LQ4).

These GM Gen3 V8 engines are so tune-able they are a hot-rodders dream.

The most popular is the 5.3 which came with a cable activated throttle-body up to 2003 then ETC after that. (Engine code LM7 or LM4).
The 5.3 is 323cid and depending on factory tune can be 285-300hp and 320-325lb-ft tq.
The 6.0L LQ4 (364cid) can be 320-340hp with 360-380tq.

All are iron block and alloy heads (avoid pre-2000 6.0L trucks as they had iron heads).

The V8's sound great and if you feel the need for more power, It's quite easy to get another 100hp out of any of these V8's without any serious work involved.

Well there aren't many of these cars here, I think this is one of two single cab s10 pickups here but this might be the only one. You really can't get the V8 model here I think. The engine in this one is nice but it needs a new setup since it's only delivering 190 hp. But if I get it it will be taken care of and probably even a new and bigger engine in a few years.
