Hi

My car has had an LPG conversion, and when it idles on LPG, it bogs down and then recovers, does this all the time, and when you go to pull off, it drops from about 650RPM to near as dammit stalling, which it does a lot.

My instinct is to say it's an ECU problem, but I'm really at a loss here. Help? Anyone? Please?? <begs...>

Hi my car runs on LPG and i had the same problem.... I changed the LPG Filter and also fitted the new NGK LPG Spark plugs these plugs run a Silver electrode which run much hotter than standard plugs. There not cheap but well worth the money.

After fitting the above to my car i found it ran much smother and also gave me more MPG.

Hi, I looked at the plugs and the filter and the plugs are already LPG ones, and the filter was replaced before the last MOT, so I'm not sure what it could be. Part of me wants to say it could be the pump, but I don't want to jump to conclusions.

(Does it work well on Petrol) I've had a few LPG cars and tbh I think they are never right, However LPG is very susceptible to ignition faults, (Coil, leads, plugs etc) Change these and you may notice a difference, Also you can drain the dirty stuff out of your vaporizer (There may be a drain plug on the bottom) Failing that take it to an LPG specialist but as I found out one visits cost knocks the profit out of having LPG. I may be wrong but i'd read that Japanese valves are much softer than usual and don't work well with LPG, Ask your local LPG man, also there is a forum just for LPG, It seems everyone over there has problems..... I find the same with diesel cars, a false economy

I thought most of the modern LPG conversions dispensed with the vapouriser and instead use a rail of dedicated LPG injectors operated sequentially.

How does it run when switched over to petrol?

It runs as close to perfect as it ever gets when its on petrol, it just hesitates and occasionally stalls on gas. I'll give the ignition system a going over, but on the subject of the vaporizer, er... what is it?

(Also tbh it is a false economy, it burns a load more gas than petrol so the price is almost negated, but if I have it on the car it may as well work :)
