My 54 plate MG ZR 160 vvc is idling too high i think, it currently sits at around 2 thousand rpm even when the engine is warmed up. not had it too long after my impreza turbo died and not had a N/A car for a long time .

I was thinking it could be the idle valve that is playing up but not quite sure.....

Any ideas would help no end..

Cheeers Wayne.

First thoughts are MAF sensor, sticky throttle butterfly or lambda sensor.

Any warning lights?

If the car has a throttle cable (ie. not drive-by-wire) then check that as well.

Does it drive properly ie. positive and firm acceleration in gear; no hesitation?

Starting? quick or delayed? Hot and/or cold?

Not sure if these cars have a separate idle valve, most don't but there are exceptions.

Other things:- air leak(s) in intake manifold? Brake servo vacuum hose damaged?

no warnng lights on at all, starts first time everytime wether its hot or cold, also drives with no problems at all and no hestitation on the throttle as well.

only want to get it sorted as i am swapping cars later on this month with my mum so she wonders if it is right or not..

Throttle quadrant would have a stop screw and nut. This sets the end-of-stroke of the throttle.
I think losen it a turn, relock and see.
