larger fuel injectors

Hard to know really. The most cost effective is to do nothing at all, save up some cash and buy a higher performance car. Unfortunately that's also a pretty uninteresting proposition.

i have heard of people fitting puma engines, but i should think it is costly and the amount of space very limited.

The 1.7 Zetec should fit, after all the Puma is based on the Ka chassis anyway. Frankly I hated the Puma - I drove one of them at launch in 1997 and found the brakes to be totally inadequate.

In the same year I drove a new XK8 (not the R) and that, too felt like the brakes were totally inadequate.

Seems Ford had a thing about fitting inadequate brakes at that time.

Honestly, I would hold fire and buy something a bit quicker than a Ka.

iam with hdi
best save the money for a faster car
you would not want a quick ka slow they are dodgy lol

best of selling quick before it goes rusty very rare i see a ka with no rust now

Actually, it's rear to see a KA! where are they all? once upon a time, every other lady was behind the wheel of one of those little Ford delights :amuse:

Maybe they cocked them up to make the Brembos on the Focus RS and the Alcons on the FRP look even better lol.

I doubt even Ford was being that cynical. The XK8 was about £60k-£70k worth of machinery at launch and the brakes were not in keeping with the rest of it. To my mind they'd have been adequate (and no more than so) on a modest 2.0 Mondeo.

I'd keep the Ka and looka fter it properly, sell it on in good nick and get a fair price (lots of people love small cars for the perceived low running costs) and then buy something a bit more lively as a starting point if you want to tune it.

You never know, you might very well get something you're happy with in stock tune anyway.

Insuring a performance car in standard tune is much much much cheaper then insuring a middle ground car which has been modified to the point that it's unrecognisable.

i agree dude im happy with the 70bhp i have long with the cherry bomb exhaust for giggles:p im starting to think about an engine swap like a 1.8 black top or summit along thoughs lines... if i remeber rightly there about 145bhp standard :S would love that i would

Ford did a racing upgrade package which included a fast road cam. The fast road cam will really tranform the car. It's so light that even a small power hike is noticable. So if you were going to spend money on it i'd do the cam.

And the brakes - they're shockingly bad from the experience I had.

even if nitrous was fitted they generally inject more fuel along with the nitrous oxide.

before you need to worry about larger injectors you would need to get more air into the engine than your current ones can deliver.
if you were just to fit larger injectors all you would end up with is running rich

is cos i have failed most of them on rust and been scrapped :lol:
i do see a lot at least 1 or 2 a day

Is that because they're especially rust prone or because you live and work close(ish) to the coast and airborne sea salt is taking its toll?

live by the river sort of
but they are rust prone
outer sills
rear inner wheel arches allround the arches

normaly the first sign you know its going to be a bad one if the nearside wing (where the fuel cap is ) is rotten that normaly gets the pen ready

they are the same as the old escorts you know its going to rust just when it will poke its head out

yep but is the only newer ford like it that i can think of never see a focus rusted or a mondeo
ok might be the odd one or two will get that with any make

just hope they sorted it on the new ka
