How long does it take to get to know your car

When you buy a new car how long does it take before you can push it hard when you get to know what the limits are?

For me it takes about 6 months. I find there are little quirks that could catch me out under certain conditions that it takes about 6 months to experience them all.

Does it take you longer than this or do you have a natural affinity for cars able to adjust within the first few miles?

I'm still being surprise by what my car can do. 5 years on.

I'm with you on that one @Lunchmoney Just had new springs fitted all round and it's made a subtle but noticable difference to the handling and ride.

It takes at least a year to drive in all weathers and seasons, but I don't really feel I know my cars limits until I've been on the track a few times and owned the car a couple of years.
