hello guys.. i have a small project in mind and want you to help me out. Just bought myself a fiat stilo for £250 and i would love to turn it in to track day car The first thing that i want to do is engine swap. Cuz the one in the car wount last long. Just want some advice of what engine should i get and tips of replacing.. thanks

I'm sure I speak for everybody when I say sorry for not living on the forum. Unfortunately the odd post does get missed but what exactly have you contributed? You sign up to a FREE forum, ask one question and expect everyone to answer immediately?

I am no Fiat specialisty but can tell you that before you swap in a bigger engine you need to get some better brakes on to cope with the power. No point going if you can't stop. Especially on a track because you could kill yourself.

Next up rip out everything that isn't needed. Replace the OEM driver's seat with a bucket seat and get a decent roll cage fitted.

Suspension should be next. Get the car handling right. Coilovers, poly bushes, ARBs, strut braces. Get the best you can afford because it's the suspension that'll make the car fun. You need to work out the ideal height as just slamming it isn't best. If it's pure track car then you'll want high-ish spring rates as well.

After all that work has been done then get the engine in. Afaik a lot of Fiat tuners use the Fiat Coupe engine. No idea on specifics for this engine as I'm a BMW man but take the chance to refresh as much as possible whilst it's out. Next you can look at things like exhausts, intakes and remaps.

How's that for an answer then? Instead of being arsey about it you could have just tried a simple bump but if you want to slate this community (in the deleted post) and contribute nothing then you can quite simply jog on out of here.

Waw Prince :amazed:,

The top of the range Stilo uses the 20valve 2.4 engine, so it should be reasonably easy to fit the subframe, suspension, brakes and 20valve turbo engine out of the coupe turbo.

Thanks guys :) I was looking to get the coilover kit but these bad boys cost £600 for that car. Can any other coilover pack fit the car?

but why should i get the ones that cost £600 rather than the ones that i can find for the better price with same adjustability that would fit the car.... I just need to know if there is that kinda coilover kit. ;)

You shoudnt ........unless you want a really good set up that can be adjusted and on a £250 stilo you probably dont need it (no offence intended)

£600 is actually not bad for a set of coilovers and is probably around the starting figure you have to pay to get decent suspension.Buying decent second hand units specifically for your car is better than buting some pretty new yellow (or red) ones

What is the difference between paying £300 /£600 /£1500 ?

well if there wsnt one nobody would pay £2K or more for a set of suspension and many do.

Suspension isnt only about ride height. Fully adjustable suspension means you can adjust ride height , damping , bump/rebound
How well they are made will determine how easily and how much they are adjustable.
If you only want to lower the car then there are much cheaper ways of doing it - springs for starters will do this.

You need to work out a plan -
how much can you spend

then spread it over tyres brakes and suspension first

BTW prince
Im not known for being a "hello and welcome to torque cars guy " but this is way too harsh mate esprecially this bit

You have read it wrong ( IMHO) all he said was - did I post it in the right place and where does he expect a quick answer ?

unless of couurse Ive missed something

The above posts have covered things quite well. After you reach 10 posts you could always post a link so we can have a look. Projects are all about research so take your time. I spent months researching suspension setups for my car before spending any money.

I will do my research... Will keep you updated guys;) i think i should go for the yellow springs and bigger brakes first. And then after engine swap, brand new and shiny coilover kit:)

Im keeping my eyes on these 281MM X 26MM vented front brakes and ceramic pads. I can get thous for £120. And 40MM sprigs for £ 130.

Brakes, Suspension then power would my route. I wouldn't bother buying springs as the shocks will need replacing as well ideally.

What about calipers? £120 sounds almost too good to be true.

I did say ........ "UNLESS IVE MISSED SOMETHING" and apparently I did because it had been deleted
So no adverse comments about mods are relevant in this thread.

I will drop you the link.... found these on eBay. It does say front set of brake discs and GREEN STUFF brake pads but as much as I understand you can chose from the brake pads listed below.. So if thats correct i will go for the REDSTUFF.

If this post was aimed towards me then I think you took my post the wrong way.
I was mearly pointing out that you did infact miss a post because it was removed. :)

They look alright tbh. Vented discs are better for cooling so that's a plus. I take it you use OEM calipers with the set. I wouldn't use Green stuff though. Use yellow stuff.

I've PM'd Sleeper to explain that he can't see the deleted post and told him the situation. He has agreed with me so I shall leave that there.
