1999.5 Golf GLS

So i recently bought a GLS from a friend and im trying to tune it up. This is my first vw so i dont know much. it took me awhile to understand some of the common terms with vw but i know it is a MK4 from my understanding. but i guess there arent to many of the GLS's and way more GTI's. anyways i want some advice on tuning it up and was wondering if people can tell me some more about the car. i Know it is a 2.0L

not heard of the GLS only a GLI (othough that might be on the jetta)

the 2.0 isnt very good for tuning mate it really is a bad engine and is less powerful than the 1.8 it replaced
