What are your thoughts on drivers electronic aids? They make driving safer but do they really improve the driving experience or just flatter a drivers skills?

Which driver aids would you live without? Do you ever turn off traction control if your car has the option?

Seriously doubt that many car owners can explain what they are and do with the exception being ABS.

Was sitting in on a course with a different organisation for high schoos pupils and had issues with their saying that it stopped the brakes locking without clarifing that one actually had to apply the brakes hard enought to lock a wheel/s before the ABS system would take over and work so they may have thought that they were braking hard enought in an emergency but in fact were not.

Have had a number of participants of all ages mainly Female ( shouldn't have said that in this politicaly correct age :() that had to be encouraged to brake harder to activate the ABS as they had in some cases had the car for years and were clueless as to what it did and how it felt and there were recorded cases of drivers thinking something had broken when they heard the ABS noise and felt the pedal pulseing and took their foot off the brake pedal thinking that something had broken

You're doing nothing wrong politically. What you state is purely based upon personal observation and experience. That's not prejudice or discrimination.

Power steering ABS and even anti skid are not a problem if done right. When the steering is silly and light, ABS cuts in too soon and the traction control is always wrestling to get control you have a problem.

A good driver should develop his skills without these aids though, relying on technology is not a good thing.
