Weird and I don't know if this is good luck or bad luck,
Back in October I purchased a cat C write off van. (Panel damage) I beat out the panel and have made good, And recently tried to get the v5 in my name (The previous was lost) DVLA have just wrote to me saying there is no listing on the database of the van being wrote off, however I have the letter the insurance company sent the last owner stating that they'd decided to make it cat C. So it looks like I don't have to get the van vosa inspected and could have been driving it for the last 3 or 4 months, Someone has screwed up......

That is an odd one, but on the plus side insurance should be even better.

Is insurance more on cars which have been cat c at some time? It was an economic decision, they said it would cost £2500 to repair, it actually cost me around £20 (Filler, Sand-paper,Primer and Paint- and I bought the expensive stuff) Goes to show there are bargains out there.

Some companies won't insure cat C & D cars. The very same ones that probably wrote them off in the first place!
