Remap Session Booked

As title, I have got my MG booked in for a full days remapping and rolling road session. I've put my car forward as a test bed for tweaking the map by a specialist. There's some history regarding these so called chips or maps with the KV6, so we aim to put this to bed once and for all. The days being spent checking the current map, power and torque output and then tweaking the parameters to optimise the map against the mods already done, then on the rollers again to compare.

We are both confident that we can improve the map, however if neither of us are 100% happy then there'll be no charge! Looking forward to this as it is one of those tasks I have wanted to get involved with for some time, as an engineer I am more interested in the programming and seeing where it can be made, rather than just another figure to brag about down the pub!

The KV6 is a sweetie of an engine. Bases upon the K series fours from 1990/1991.

A remap will not provide massive gains but you will find that the troughs and peaks have been evened out. And you'll notice it whilst driving. It will be much more even in its responses. Which will make it easier to dive swiftly.

There are alot of opinions regarding a KV6 remap, but very little evidence to back up the claims. I too was being sucked into this debate and have decided to find out myself and put it all to bed. The specialist is confident, so we are going to judge it for ourselves and see what we can do with teh current parameters. On a Mondeo ST220 he has seen between 18-24bhp increase when done back to back testing, the spread dependant upon what mods have been done. So he is expecting the same, personally I'd be happy with between 10 and 15. We'll see.

You won't see 250 from a nasp KV6 with minimal mods, those figures are only available if supercharging (which is unreliable) or if you have alot of money and friendly with QED :blink1: 210 max is probably the limit for one that has been modded to include cams.

I'm just waiting for the day and then see what happens, I'm not expecting big gains. If I do then great but I am not holding my breath!
