The meet was Sunday (practice) & Monday (comp day) & It's the first event of the season,

My friends amazing 2L MR2 engined Smart, he's very modest about it but I can confirm the quality of the engine conversion is second to none!

Fantastic clear bodied Lotus.

Home made, Six wheels, four wheel drive, bike engined & very fast! Totally nuts! :blink:

so what were the rules of entering that race?
seems like fun to be there.

It's a lot of fun! It's great as a spectator as you get to see lots of cars go up & you can walk freely around the pits & get a good look at the cars too.

There was a broad range of cars from Formula Renault, F3000 etc single seaters, four wheel drive Subaru's & Audi Quattro's, Lotus 7's & replica's & everyday hot hatches. Basically if you can thrash it chances are someone is Hillclimbing in one!

Hill climbing, like sprinting, is a point to point race on (usually in this country) on tarmac, up hill.
A group of cars will get a timed run up the hill, when the last car reaches the top they all roll back down & the next group will go up. The Track is quite short, this one 1000 yards long, so times range from 24 to 40 seconds depending on the class (& weather!).
Bikes & racing side cars also compete in these events.

There's also a big world wide hill climbing scene one of the most famous is Pikes Peak, you'll find loads of vid's on Youtube.

It's a two litre MR2 engine running without the turbo for the moment, until he gets the handling perfect on the car. :amuse:
