Near miss today

I was at a junction behind a van. I noticed his reversing lights come on.

Immediately I shoved my car into reverse and shot back just avoiding a collision! It was so close it was crazy. I literally only just inched out of the way!

Phew! I'm glad I had my wits about me.

Was it a Mercedes van by any chance? I am beginning to think the electrics are a little suspect on these. Seen a few now with either the reversing lights on, blown LED lamps from the brake lights & rear light clusters that light up like a Christmas tree when the brake light comes on and the van is barely a couple of years old.

A screen mounted camera would have cleared up any issues relating to blame if a collision had occurred. Glad to hear that it was averted.

I was wondering if it was deliberate but I do think the guy was just lost, he was positioned for a right turn then after backing up he went left!

I might invest in one of those cameras, if he did have bad intentions it could have been worse for me.
