Seeing as they are the same family I thought it might be worth asking as there are cheap octavias around. Can you say sleeper?

There's also 2 different 1.8Ts.

The old one, based on the MPI, delivered ~150hp and was used in the Golf IV GTi and the Octavia I vRS.

The new one, based on the FSI, deliveres ~160hp and is available in all standard models of the Octavia II (once it was available anyway - it replaced the NA 2.0 FSI).

if you want to find out the exact spec on any car, go on www.parkers.co.uk.
it will tell you everything about every car, the torque, bhp, tax band, used price, new price, size, weight, 0-60 in . . . etc. check it out

I think that the engine similarities outweight the differences with the earlier 1.8T.

The TFSi is much newer and supposedly more economical.

Should also get more from a remap of the FSI-based engine.

The 2.0NA went from 115hp (MPI) to 150hp (FSI).

The 1.6NA went from 102hp (MPI) to 115hp (FSI).

You're telling me that the 1.8T only gained 10hp when changed from MPI to FSI?

Must've been to make the (undertuned) 2.0 TDI look good ;)

remember the 2.0 that was in the Oct 1 was a heap of crud. the brought it out to replace the old 1.8 (in the VWs anyway) the 1.8 AGN (would need to double check) engine had 125bhp, the replacement 2.0 has 115 and a Gti badge on it ???????? work that one out
