HELP NEEDED Galant 2.5v6 24v

i have recently bought a galant 2.5 v6 24v i am liking it very much i have been trying to find out if it is possible to get it chipped and keep coming up agaist brick walls does anybody know of where this can be achieved if not what other modifications can be done to improve the performance i will need it in laymans terms im a bit green but have a reliable mechanic friend who will translate!!

HI and welcome to TorqueCars. Nice to have you along. Our wedding car was a White Galant 2.5v6 so they have a fond place in my heart!

Chipping a non turbo is not really going to give massive power gains. Your best bet is to look at induction/exhaust then fit a set of fast road cams. If you want to go silly then some head work around the valves will help then get the timing adjusted to take this all into account. Feel free to ask any questions you want to and read through our articles in the tuning section - they should help you to understand car engines a bit more.

is it possible to import a cpu already chipped from japan or would that be silly money??

or perhaps just the chip?

Have a chat with a specialist importer. They will take responsibility for getting a working part - they extra they charge will be more than made up for in time saved. I would chat with SVA imports in Folkestone - they do quite a bit of Jap tuning and have extensive contacts in Japan so would be well placed to help you. There are often differences in the JDM and UK spec cars so I would hold back from a JDM remap chip. Legislation regarding emissions often mean substantial differences in the way the engines are set up.
