Do you feel that your country punishes drivers? Are green taxes being added and increased all the time?

What ways do you think your governments punish drivers by way of taxes, tough laws and driving restrictions?

what were not punished in the slightest

up to £400 a year for road tax
£0.80 in every litre of fuel is tax of some sort
VAT on everything for the cars
insurance required by law which is taxed
speed cameras that make millions every day
fines and points for doing the slightest thing - which increases your insurance and therefore the tax on it.
bigger punishments for drivers than convicted paedophiles
think ill stop there

UK - enough said, is just thievery.
For Vietnam:
this year will see and increase of 100% in the VAT rate for cars plus an increase of 100% on the road tax. (road tax is a one off payment that is now going to be 10% of the cars value that is paid on purchase - and car prices are probably some of the highest in the world already - higher even than the uk!). Decent roads have road tolls. speeding, undertaken etc... can all results in points on your license but their are ways around this.

compared with you guys australia is still reasonable
$1.19 / ltr
rego per year $350.00 for large vechical
insurance not compulsory
the major problem is we have fines for trafic infringments and loss of demerit points
loose 10 points and no licence for 3 months ( long weekends and public holidays fines and demerit points are double )
running costs are ok , its being a bad boy thats expensive
