Hi all,

Just looking around at cars and I have seen a Pug 306 diesel, and was wondering if the ensurance would be higher than on the equivilant petrol model?

I know it may not be much different for a 40 year old male with 5 years no claims bonus, bus would the difference be worth getting it a a new driver?

Thanks,

Corey.

If the 306 is an HDi model then there's no way you'll tune it with a screwdriver. The earlier XUD-T engines can be tweaked mechanically.

Insurance will be broadly similar - phone and get a quote is the best approach. Clearly if you do tune it you must tell your insurer.

When you say equivalent petrol model do you mean engine cc capacity or power output? Diesels tend to be cheaper if you compare then by cc with petrol (especially non turbo models) add a turbo into the mix and then the gap closes but diesels still tend to be cheaper to insure than equivalent power petrol models.
