can i take my car back from insurance company

As my car in being looked at by my insurance company am i within my rights to take it back and with draw my claim?

Only asking as i no a few people have enquired about some of the parts, surely this would work out better for the insurance company and save them some cash and i get to keep my 4 years no claims so i can get something worth driving.

Cash in lieu of repairs is what to ask for - they give you the car and a cash settlement less the value of the car if it is written off.

If it is a cat C or D it is unlikely they will release the car to you for repair.

You can also withdraw a claim but you'll need to sign a disclaimer that you will not claim for that incident. New insurers may not be happy that you have an "indicent in your history" even though no claim was made but your NCB should be ok.

they have not told me that they are fixing/writing off yet.

do you think they would charge me for them collecting the car from the scene of the accident?
