Which older small cars are reputed to have the best build quality internally and the nicest place to be sitting on a Journey.
Am I correct in assuming the Golf is the benchmark (Maybe A3) Thanks all

Thanks HDI, I actually did some reading about the 2 ltr mk4 golf, wow it seems a lot of people slate it, the usual slating on PHeads to be ignored,
From what I have read the Ford Focus has the best Dynamics, The Golf the best Solidity, Shame there is no medium.... Maybe the mk5 Golf but not cheap

The Focus is arguably a better handler, no question. But I liked the 8v GTi for it's any gear any speed go. Not fast with only 115bhp but never remotely slow.

A Seat Leon would serve well with the 150bhp 1.8T engine. Or the 170bhp 2.3 litre V5. If you can find one that is

Thanks, the mk4 2 ltr certainly are cheap, I am mainly concerned with interior quality and economy , weird but hey, That's me, Thanks
