Hi,
As I am always banging on about good & safe drivers this may seem a strange request lol:embarrest:
I have said that it can sometimes be a safer option to speed up rather than braking to avoid a crash/prang/ accident about to happen and so.....
Other than bombing down a Mway at 2 am (in a car that is SO distinctive I could not claim "not me Officer!"). Can anyone tell me of an off road track/course where I could open her up? I have found some track days and the like but could I go somewhere (close to Leeds if poss) and pay just to have a few laps to see what the car CAN do??:rolleyes:

If you were near Rugby I'd say bob on the M45, it's a straight piece of motorway, about 6 miles long, goes from the A45 to the M1. I've done, er, a good 130 leptons on there in me time.

Thanks for this BUT.... I have seen these types. I was hoping for a coupl of quid not a couple of hundred Nor do I want to have an Instructor with me. Just want to know what my car CAN do without using a straight bit of road somewhere.
I could use the M62 quite near me as it is fairly straight all the way to Hull but at well over the ton Id lose my licence (Oh yes I would)
Look for http://www.ridedrive.co.uk online - they cover most parts of the UK and you can get a half day track experience with a Police Class 1 Instructor/Examiner for a couple of hundred quid.

Take a quick blast down through Germany on the unrestricted Autobhan, tell your wife you've booked you both a weekend away and enjoy the drive!

I would quite enjoy that!!
However, I am retired with only some debts still to pay out of a State Pension so I have very little monies to spend (on anything Boo Hoo) My good lady (and she is!!) doesn.t like me overtaking in many situations Or travelling too fast on an Mway (though I /we have done 100 for a short overtake spell (dont think she noticed!)So any holidays are paid for by her and we would fly not take our car!!!:sad2::sad2:
It also seems that there are restricted sections?? and another meber has noted the use of unmarked cars.
That seems anomolous.
IF the section is unlimited why would you be breaking any Law??? someone else (a german perhaps?? could give us an answer??
Finally, I am not offerring complaint Re wife Just a statement of facts. After all I did get her to buy THIS car!!!!!!!!!!;)able to give an answer

In germany although the road is unrestricted you are still required to drive safely, if your speed is not approporate to the conditions (traffic or weather) then you will have a case to answer.

Yugguy is talking about a UK motorway.;)

The safest option to ''open up'' is to nip down to the M6. Have a bit of a tour untill you pass M'chester and B'pool, then, when the street lights stop, go for it! You can not get done on one of them hand held speed camara's at night, nor the ones parked on the side of the road. Just pray you dont pass a copper. Thats what I would do. I forgot to mention, make sure it is about 2am! This way, you dont have to worry about breaking hevily, and you can just go nuts for 5 min then slow back down again.

Quickie!! To Waynne:
Should that re 'unrestricted??
I think that driving safely within total considerations for Traffic, weather etc should be a paramount de rigeur.
To Biogbadjoe:
I can see your jokey??? response to our car True it isnt an Evo or a Veyron etc Nor do we need to do its maximum quoted ANYWHERE I am just curious! IF I needed acceleration out of a tight spot (impending accident)
I think you may find that IF you have done this 'speed test' You might just have been lucky!! There is NO guarantee that the cameras are not in operation via patrols somewhere at night. There are also video cars operating too. If you thought the Police went to bed the same time as most people AHH AHH!!
To all:
after any replies to you tomorrow we will be on hols for a week so you can breathe easy guys

Don't worry. I have always taken the mick out of other people's car, even when I had my Mazda, Prelude and Deisel Escort. I give a bit of banter, take a bit. Im not one of these people who think they are better than any one els. Just like a laf. Didn't mean to offend. :embarrest:

Mate!
You didn.t offend
Like you I can enjoy a joke at my (or the cars') expense too.
I do find however that SOME members on here seem to reply with what I would describe as a reckless attitude???
Maybe, IF they wish to be amusing or jocular in that reply a smilie could be placed to indicate same.
IF they are serious then there are 2 ways to go. Ignore them. Any reply to suggest moderation in driving would go unappreciated anyway or, DO suggest that their attitude is wrong.
I prefer the former.
I/You are not going to influence these guys so let them get on with it and hope that the person they might kill is themselves
