    Double Clutching

Hmm, can't think of a single valid reason for doing this on a public road in a modern car. Only ever used double clutching in circumstances the Constabluary would not approve of. Heel and toe, I do confess to having used on the road... emergency stops; well I do enough miles that I get to...

    One of my toys :)

Nice ride 2fast, I think that's the best colour I've seen. I currently have an '01 Transalp with full luggage for touring and commuting. So, there's at least three of us... ;)

    Who's got a clean licence?

Never had a point, never had a fine. Had a car licence since '86 and a bike licence since '00. Use available power appropriately and safely as often as possible  Just lucky I guess

    My Nissan Skyline R34 GTT

Damn! That's a nice ride J, see a lot of TLC has gone into that, respect is due8). Don't suppose you see much more than 20mpg. Worth it in smiles per miles any day  RW

    Faux fur seat covers anyone

 You haven't been visiting Chavland have you Waynne? Personally, I think covers are up there with bolt on tea tray rear spoilers, bumper stickers and furry dice. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that but you can guarantee the other thing they all have in common is...

    reliable turbo cars

Hi Yul, I think the sentiment may be somewhat outdated with 'modern' cars. I myself have an Impreza turbo with about 110,000 miles on the clock and it's runs just fine. Even though I do take every available opportunity to use as much as possible of the availbale power, it fits in with what...

    Subaru Impreza WRX STi

Hmmm... still not feeling the love. Especially when you compare it to the new Evo. Not saying I'd sell my Subaru to buy a Mitsubishi, but at the moment, I won't be chopping it in for a hatchback either...:blink1:

    Re-mapping?

Hi WRXash, 330bhp should be no bother without having to modify any internals from what I've learned through owners and clubs. For a local remap, check these people out www.rstuning.co.uk I don't know anything about them other than they are in Leeds. Cheers ;)

    Driving clothes

Oakleys and a big grin  Nothing to do with image, the shades are because I can't see in daylight (slight problem when driving) so much so that for the bike, I have a crash helmet with built in shades like pilots have.

    Best and worst brakes

Best brakes I ever used were on a Porsche 996 at Brands :toung: , for my own cars, the Scooby is definitely the best I've ever owned. The worst had to be the Mk II Cortina I tried to restore in my youth; would have stopped quicker if I'd opened the door and put my foot out:embarrest:

    bikes ehh?

If it has an engine and moves fast, they'll be an excuse to love it:bigsmile: I'm into cars and bikes equally but only got into bikes because commuting into London is such a pain in the ar@. The bike does 40 minutes regardless of traffic, the car can go the wrong side of 4 hours!!! And if...

    car list

Morris Marina, 40 shades of blue, £300, sold after a year for the same. Austin Allegro, canary yellow, hideous, slow and couldn't handle. So much for buy british. Mk II Cortina, wanted to do a restore, learnt a lot, ran out of talent. Vauxhall Chevette, reliable, slightly more fun, sold to my...

    My first scooby

Welcome Marcscoob, There are soooo many things you can do to the Scooby it'll make youwallet hurt and your head spin. Among the more common and straight forward things to be played with you could go for: Swap the air box for an induction kit. K&N57i and Green are very popluar but if you...

    extreme secutity

Whilst highly amusing, this is illegal and could have serious consequences. Think about what could happen if a little kid or someone with a pacemaker accidentally completed the circuit... Buy an alarm with an SMS sender or a tracker if you're that worried about losing your ride. At the end of...

    Tried sleeping in your car

I can recommend Volvo T5s and Scooby sportswagons. Me and the wife once slept in a Volvo 360, it was that bad we abandoned the car in favour of a night under the stars (no tent) whilst rock climbing in the Peak District...

    looking for wide body kit

Hi Lyndsey, Have you tried talking to any of these: www.essexracing.com 0870 8508016. www.psgbodystyling.co.uk 01509 620057. www.abstyling.co.uk Sorry, Ford's not really my market but if you talk to people who manufacture rather than just shift kits, you may get lucky. Good luck;)

    Newbie!

Welcome TR. Current ruling is front cabin windows ie windscreens and front doors must transmit 70% of available light. If you do tint and get stopped, Mr Policeman will produce a light meter to test the opacity of your tint. If it fails the test, you get a choice: make a big enough tear in...

    The New Kid

Hi Goldie and welcome to the forum. The Clio's not a bad first car and the Golf is certainly a cracking ideal project car. If you look at some of the dyno runs the owners clubs run, there are still some serious Mk IIs out there.

What is the coolest car related job

I'm quite envious of David Richards. Think about it; he owns Prodrive (so plenty of engagement with Subaru, Porsche, etc) and he's co-owner of Aston Martin... So he doesn't have to race or drive for a living but he is involved with the coolest cars on the planet and has enough money for...

    Stopping overtakers

Anyone with enough grunt to catch and pass me is more than welcome. I'll happily get out of the way and follow them, they then act as my radar detector . In 20+ years it's served me well, never had a point, a pull or an accident.

    Zebra crossing rules

Talking of oversees crossings, most european countries I have been through seem to have rules akin to Russian Roulette... until I went to Germany: Walking off the night before I sauntered up to a junction (on foot) and before I'd even got to the kerb cars on both this road and the main road it...

Small cars - love em or hate em?

At 6' 2" I have yet to find a small car that isn't claustrophobic and there are several where I have to navigate a leg round the steering wheel or tilt my head from the roof. In my youh, I used to hoon around in an old mini which was great fun but these days, I wouldn't ever want to be in an...

Are you a tank half empty sort of person?

Well the tank's half empty in an Impreza as soon as you wake up the turbo ;) If the glass is half empty, mine's a pint and it's your round :p No drinking and driving though, that's for tw@s

    Are you an overtaker?

Overtaking is alive and well (well, at least when I'm driving). It seems to be increasingly common though that I'm overtaking vehicles who are in lane two and are apparently trying to overtaking the invisible man in his invisible van in the empty lane 1....! Why do folk insist on sitting in...

    is this a scam ??

Hi Paul, I see a lot of this sort of thing (among other things I manage a couple of email servers) and I would bet large amounts of my own money that this is a scam. I make it a personal rule not to trade vehicles or houses without personal contact and the money in my hand or in my bank...
