Have you ever lost control of your car? What happened?

Thankfully other than a brief moment on sheet ice and an incident just after I passed my test on a gravelly bend I have never lost complete control of my car.

I have a friend who regularly  ends up pointing the wrong way or falling off the road!

Yes I have, usually in icy and snowy conditions but I have always been able to regain control after a moment or two! ;)

Oh and could you let me know when your friend is next out in his car, and I will make sure I work from home that day!

When it was snowing last as I left my close I must have turned too sharply and went down the wrong road side ways!

Lost control a couple of times but never gone off the road thankfully. However, I've never ever lost control due to my own stupidity or over confidence... It's when tards move around doing silly things you cannot predict that things start to go haywire. Like almost rearending someone who moves into your lane on the motorway when they are going much slower than you, it's icy out and I have to hit the breaks in a "panic"... :(

Same as T9. Lost controll a few times on ice or snow. Have had a few squeeky bum moments when I thought I was going to crash but was able to avoid. I lost controll in my Mazda witch ended up in a crash (all my fault may I add. Taking 90 degree turn off's at 90mph is not advised).

Oh, and I lost controll of my baby late last year messing around at a round about in the arse end of no where, but to be fair, I was pushing her hard to see where the braking point was! :blink1::bigsmile:

Oh, and I don't think I was ever in controll of my escort! Them 14inch bad boy budget tyres were a dreem to drive with!!!!! NOT!

The worse one was when I killed the Smart.

And also last winter when I tried to brake as gently as I could on a steep hill, & I started sliding towards the car in front, fortunatly I left a decent gap but it came very close to bumping the car in front & that would probably had sent him sliding then. As I got closer I was considering throwing the car into reverse, I wonder if that would have worked.

I know of a taxi driver that had a similer problem. This was on a hill the driving instucters use to practice hill starts! The outcome was the taxi, the car at the botton, and a car on the joining road were wrote off! :amazed:

I've never lost control in what I would call a 'bad moment', only close one was when I was towing my race car to my lock up and the wind caught it and the trailer started to snake, the back axle of my mk5 Cortina was screeching side to side! It is surprising how quickly the next lane emptied!

Come to think of it there was a time when I lost the steering of my Firenza, I turned into a close only to carry on towards a brickwall even though I was still turning the steering wheel! So happened the good old fashioned steering coupling had sheared itself! Tis weird as you have no control but still steer!

It was a proper 50p/5p moment! The worse bit is, it happens so slowly & your powerless to do anything, you can't turn into the curb because that will cause the back end to slide round you just have to sit there & watch the horror unfold.

back end slipped out earlier this year with the ice - 1st time ive ever classed it as a brown trouser moment, usually its a woops

slid on a wet road that was covered in loose gravel from a wagon, also think some diesel or oil had been spilt. ended up going over a roundabout.

Yes. In my old Primera all the time............. Lift off oversteer is awesome.

Losing control is different to deliberately and forcibly provoking a reduction in lateral rear traction, as is the case here.

So you are forgiven, my friend :)

My Primera got a bit wayward once or twice when I had accidentally fitted some Goodyear NCT3 tyres which, although correctly E marked, were not specifically for UK meteorological conditions [read weather].
