New fuels are coming out with 15% biofuel content. Many older engines will not appreciate this and will experience damage from the biofuels due to seal and alloy component corrosion.

The fuel will as I understand be labelled E10.

This is as bad as when we dropped leaded fuel but people do not seem to be aware of the issues involved.

Bioethanol is a good way to increase the Octane rating of fossil fuel. However, octane rating isn't everything. Despite its high RON rating the calorific value is much lower than traditional petrol.

E15 should be fine in just about everything built since 1990 and the widespread introduction of unleaded petrol across the UK.

I like to think that the energy companies will have done their research before committing to E15 across the board.

Not sure, I will have a chat with my tuning guru in Sweden and see what he thinks. He already insists on my sparkplugs are from a Biofuel range because they run hotter for longer - or something like that anyway :embarrest:
