turbo wonders

i just added a turbo to a 2006 kia bongo
it is showing 2 lbs of boost at idle

Must be a tiny turbo or faulty gauge as positive pressure normally needs load on the motor .

as tjc said normally this shouldnt happen if the turbo is the right size.

Petrol or deisel ? and when you say "added" what have you fitted and where ?

The engine is a 3.0 non turbo diesel.
the turbo i added is a garret GT1749S GT17
I assumed the same about the gauge being bad, (so i removed the PVC valve an you feel pressure from the intake, not it sucking as expected.)

exactly where is the guage plumbed into

gauge is plumbed in to the intake center

Boost gauge (manifold absolute pressure) would be plumbed downstream of the turbocharger. If it's between turbo and air intake you will always see vacuum.

How does the car drive?

have not driven yet, its a new complete rebuild. Do not want to damage it first time out
