Turbo In Automatic Cars

You'd certainly have to fit a transmission oil cooler at the very least.

Automatics stand up to the torque of modern turbo diesel engines so I can't see that there will be a problem in principle. Autos have been used in all sorts of engine configurations for years from the tiniest 1.0 Micra to the insane Audi Q7 with its mighty V12 diesel.

I'm slightly surprised by the question to be honest. It's kind of like asking would it be OK to have a two door car with a blue leather interior?

autos can cope with any power you put throu it
ok you upgrade a few bits but look at drag cars they are auto and most high powered cars

That's my thoughts. If you can stuff 400+lbft through an auto in a 535d, and nearly 1000lbft in a Q7 then what's the issue.

American V8s are not small. No one buys a 5.7 litre V8 with a manual.

Why would you?

Turbos and autos work together well. If there are any laggy traits there the torque converter disguises them very well. It also disguises the outrageous slug of torque which can set the tyres alight long before the traction control has to intervene - and far less invasively.
