Nice article. Modern Diesels really are world apart from where they used to be a decade ago. Even the old 1.9 VAG PD lumps whilst not as smooth as the newer 2.0 engines, have big torque and pull along very nicely. A Mk4 1.9 TDI 150bhp engine belonging to a friend of mine, even in factory form is a real little rocket.
