The engine has the new style gasket, not the thin sheet of steel that was prone to failing. I'm not sure about the crank yet, I suppose it all depends If I decide to take the supercharger route or not. It's all a matter of cost too.
Moto-build racing managed to turbo charge a vvc so it would be worth chatting with them. On any big power increase a set of forged pistons will increase reliability.
Its worth looking into cryogenic treatments for the extra durability this offers. (if you can find someone near you offering it that is!)
