Throttle bodies Vs Supercharger

I've been told either way & with a set of fast cams, forged pistons are a must on a K series engine so...

What would you go for?

What's wrong with the original pistons? If they're round and aren't melting then stick with 'em.

Apparently around 180bhp upwards the standard K series pistons have a tendency to fail. :blink:

Which k series are you seeking to tune?

1.8 VVC 143BHP standard.

with a k series id be more worried about the head gasket going rather than the pistons

are you looking at changing the crank as well ?

The engine has the new style gasket, not the thin sheet of steel that was prone to failing. I'm not sure about the crank yet, I suppose it all depends If I decide to take the supercharger route or not. It's all a matter of cost too.

Moto-build racing managed to turbo charge a vvc so it would be worth chatting with them. On any big power increase a set of forged pistons will increase reliability.

Its worth looking into cryogenic treatments for the extra durability this offers. (if you can find someone near you offering it that is!)
