The big freeze continues

It looks like we will have a few more cold snowy days.

Councils around the country are facing problems with supplies of salt and grit.

Can the council really be blamed for the lack of supplies? After all we are dealing with unprecedented bad weather.

Is your local council coping? Our main roads seem to be staying clear but all the minor side roads are really icy.

It seems daft to keep the motorways ice free when our towns are unable to move. Who is going to make it to the main clear roads?

our council didnt cope as they had to do the motorway as they stupidally took over the contract from AMEY. this meant that there were council gritters on the motorway rather than the normal roads and also the council grit on the motorway.
the only thing our council did get right was to tell the scot Ex that they were talking out of various orifices and to stop lying to the people.
Scot Ex said there was plenty of salt left DG ran out something like 3 hours later

Blooming government.

Notts CC had lined up 5000t of grit for delivery - then the central government stepped in and centralised it all. So we've had maybe 10% of it.

And of course, we've really been caught out this time. Gritters went out last night, only for the rain to come and wash the grit away right before the frost came, leaving us with most of the county covered in sheet ice. Not nice at all.
