Take into account the fact that driving whilst tired is a similar impairment to driving whilst over the alcahol limit or whilst using drugs or medication.

If the police spot a driver drifting from lane to lane or doing something else potentially dangerous should they do something?

Do you think that tired drivers should face a roadside reflex test and if they fail end up with similar penalties to drink drivers?

As I understand it some countries require all drivers to undergo a reflex test before getting/renewing a licence?

Difficult to administer. Do reflexes and response times to spurious stimuli have any effect upon one's ability to drive safely?

Perhaps we should replace the breath test with an impairment test.

A few months ago a German driver was acquitted of a drink driving charge.

During the pursuit it took the Police over two hours to stop his car and and apprehend him. He sucessfully argued, therefore, that his driving was not impaired!!!!
