How much for your first car

How much did you spend on your first car and how much did you get for it when you sold it?

I paid £700 for a Y plate Renault 9 TLE (1300cc) back in 1990! It seems people spend a lot more on their first cars nowadays but I'm just curious how much yours was.

I got about £200 scrap value for it 2 weeks later!

sold it just over 6 months later for £700

£375 for my L reg Ford Esscort!

Loved that car. She had 140000 on the clock when I got her. She did 25000 miles in two years, nothing wrong with her. I had to scrap her as the floor was about to fall away! Gutted :sad2:

Paid $200 cash (about £150) still have it sitting at my aunts place if none of my cousins hauled it off for scrap.

In 1988 I had saved enough to pay £100 for an R reg Morris Marina 1.3L Fitted an Audioline radio cassette with 5 band graphic equaliser in the glove box and felt king of the road. Insurance was much cheaper back then and I paid for that also out of what I'd saved from my YTS wages of £18.50 per week!
