Do you think that we should have higher speed limits on our motorways in the dry?

As speed limits were set when ABS did not exist and most cars had disk brakes there is a compelling arguement for a review of the speed limits.

Do you think this will ever happen? (and why not?)

I think that if you raise speed limits on the basis of cars being safer, better build, better brakes etc etc, it's a course for disaster.
Let's be honest here, the vast majority of people on the roads are complete and utter fxxxwits, simply allowing them to go faster by legalising it would be a complete neglection of sense.
Passing an advanced driving course with tuition for such purposes would be nearer the mark.
They have enough cameras and sensors on roads and motorways to be able to detect a tag on a car to prove the driver has passed such a course. It would be the same as the tax disc in regards of legality. Make it the sole possession of the driver who has been awarded it so that anyone not qualified, caught using it in that car is the responsibility of the tag owner and both are prosecuted in the event of any dodgy use and the tag revoked.
