i know most of the time its how the person behind the wheel is driving.
but do you think some cars are more likely to be pulled over by the police than others if you are driving like you should be i.e within the speed limits
i was thinking along the lines of, would a bmw get pulled more that a corsa.
or do mercs like to attract the blue lights?

depends on the officers. they might see a standard looking BM go past and ignore it but look for reasons to stop the fully kitted up corsa right behind it.

i can understand that, because most of the time rude boys an boy racers usually kit up there cars. so the police see a kitted up car an think "here we go, boy racer". an then pull them. do you think seeing a 21 year old in a bm or merc would then lead them to pull you over?

The police are there to selectively stop and investigate. The idea is not to get noticed.

From my experience you will tend to get stopped if:-
If you look very young
If you look too young to be driving the sort of car your in (18 year old in £60k Mercedes!)
Your car is old but chaved up - they will check tyres etc.
Insurance is out of date
Tax is out of date
Something looks wrong. A 3 year old Merc with Tape holding on the wing mirror.
Anything that is broken - missing lights/bulbs, bumper damage
Erratic driving, swerving, and driving too carefully.

Generally though they need a reason for stopping you but as we all know reasons can be easily invented.

I hear of people getting stopped for no brake light and being done for drink driving or driving without insurance. The police have a 6th sense and usually know when something is up.

So Don't look shifty!

Revived.....
I think this is silly. Just because a car has a body kit doesn't mean it's a boy racer car. The police do pick on modified cars though. Although I never got pulled in the Primera even with the front bumper extension and the exhaust.

Last week i went past a speed trap at the edge of a town goinf from 30-40mph zone. I was only doing 25mph but inadvertently smiled and policeman on the way past (maybe it was more of a smirk). So toddling off down the country road at 55mph, all good and well and the buggers in an unmarked police car come screaming up behind me either to catch me tanking it or to provoke into a race. Have no fear that if i was driving something like an escort they wouldnt have bother sending the unmarked car after me but because its an Impreza they've got their eye out.

too add, got my own back though, they were following so close when i pulled into a layby they almost went up the back end,

if it was unmarked how do you know it was a police car? You sure it wasn't just some idiot driver and you were being paranoid?

umm. perhaps it was the two policemen inside it in uniform.

Ahh that could be a give away, seems a bit daft to be in an unmarked car if you wear uniform, defeats the object largely surely? o.0 The ones I've seen tend to be plain clothed (yes they were police cus they pulled people over)

Was a bit wary beforehand as had been warned they were out trapping. Concerningly couple of days later saw another car in the same area also uniformed in an unmarked car. getting too common and they unfortunately have their eyes on imprezas and evo's :sad2:

I'm 18 and I have never got pulled in my black BM that looks like a drug dealers car, Or an audi R8 I've driven or a Ford XR8 pickup with a 5l V8 :)

So the age thing is rubbish, if your driving is poor or you have plastic panels added to your car and a exhaust you could fit a cat in it's more likley.

just today i was out cuising in a mates car around dover, within a stretch of about 200m there was 5 cars pulled over by marked BMW 3 series police cars.. no idea why

they should be in uniform if theyre running traffic. youd be shocked hat how many just will put the foot down without looking.

round here if you see Merc BMW or Volvo estate with 2 in front then look closer

Yet another example of the filth being a law unto themselves.

You usually spot the stab vests first around by me. I'm always particularily cautious driving at night because you can't see what's behind you and that's when I was pulled. I have a record of the plates of all the unmarked cars I or my mates have seen around my area. Only really see the one these days; Black 3-series saloon **** WVU.

I took my driving test in my dads FreeLander, which at the time was brand new and had done ~ 3000 miles only. After I passed, I was allowed to use it when he wasn't.

He told me i'll get pulled over, being 18 and in a brand new Land Rover so made sure all the documents, insurance etc where in the car along with a letter from himself as Company Director (car was on the business insurance) saying that I was permitted to drive this vehicle.

Anyway - 2 days after passing there is a road-block in our village (one of these stop and check things). I think "oh here goes" and kept looking straight ahead and driving as you do, even if your fully legal.

Anyway - they pulled the transit in front of me, and the Escort behind.

Drove that car for ~ 2 years until I got my own. Not once did I get pulled.

... oops, clicked post before I'd finished.

Anyway - bought my first car, P-Reg Rover 216SLi which I putted 17" alloys on and in 12 months of ownership, got pulled twice.

Second car.. Passat 1.8T SE (left that completely stock). Had it for just over 2 years, didn't get pulled once.

Third car... (still have this one) Passat W8 4motion (lots of mods!). Got pulled leaving WITHIN the Odeon car-park for having my fogs on! Thats it to date.

Fouth car... (still have this one) FreeLander Sport. Had this 9 months, never been pulled.

So the only car I ever got pulled in for nothing in particular was my old Rover with blingy wheels.
