Finishing with LAQUER

Just resprayed doors, after some kind person put long deep scratches in them.
Have tried putting several thin coats of laquer on but gives a dull finish.Triedputting it on thicker, which is better, but get bad runs.
Anyone got any tips on how to sort it. Thanks.

whenever we have painted anything we normally do a few thin coats of laquer then leave to harden for a few days then use a bit of auto glym paint renovator then a few coats of meguires gold class wax, that always brings it up to a mirror finish,

last thing you want to do is put paint or laquer on too thick as will cause runs and wont dry properly normally causing an orange peel effect.

hope this helps :)

mask a line down the door and do one half first then you can what a differance it makes, the paint renovator is also great for getting the 'swirls' out of paint work off car washes etc, its hard graft to do a full car but it will bring the paint work back to brand new without the cost of a full detailling service (obviously it wont be as high a quality finish as what these guys do but it will still be like glass)

dont be put off when you use the renovator as it will dull the paintwork slightly, hence using the wax to bring the shine back.

take some before and after pics to stick on here aswell :)

If you have a big area then try an electric paint buffer with the polish but be careful not to go too mad on it.

Farcela G3 FTW! As 2Fast says, you will need to it to harden and polish it with a compound paste or cutting polish. How have you sprayed the doors?

Woudn't know DIY tip for this but till you get a good sol. can fix long thin
auto stickers on them. ( to both sides for simitry

depends on where the original scratches were though, and if scratches were down to the metal then would get rust under the stickers which isnt good
