is it hard to do the clutch on the 306 mine is slipping.i am putting some ice in it at the moment.jbl sub and amp.and sum 6x9,s with a 360 amp to power them.are angel eyes for the 306 expensive i do like them would like a set.any advice on these cars welcomed.

Re: clutch

Clutches can generally be fiddly as you need to get them lined up right, if you know what you are doing it is ok. It would be worth getting a lighter flywheel at the same time, or dumping your DMF flywheel (if it has one.)

my engine is the 1.9td.am in the process of changeing the clutch lots of bits .is it worth putting a performance air filter while i have the original one off.will it make much difference to performance.have put stereo and sub and amp in i want to start modding engine and exhaust next.any advice.cheers

well mate, you're talking to the right bloke, for best results buy a genuine Vealo clutch from peugeot, the job it's self is fairly difficult, if you are an experienced diy mechanic then it shouldn't be a problem,

there's 2 video guides on how to do it, the job it's self is awkward without the right tools and some knowledge on cars,

if you're just replacing the air filter in the standardair box with a performance one then that's ok because the air box is a good design, induction kit's on this car are a waste of time, take it from me i know, after you have done the clutch and air filter i would suggest a stage 1 tune, it's an easy and cheap mod to do (in fact all it costs is time) and give loads of extra performance,

first you have to find out what pump you have and what turbo then you can make the adjustments accordingly, it's just like remapping a more modern car,

adjust the fuel pump first then the turbo, never the other way round, running rich is better than running lean (when at full throttle diesels run lean at any other throttle position)

also disconnect your egr (it's got one) look behind your battery when facing the front of the car, behind there you will find a black solenoid with a green connector, unplug the connector and leave it, that's all you have to do,
what that does it stops the exhaust gas going back into the engine and thus keeping it cleaner

hope this helps

cheers for info i forgot you had told me how to diconect egr.thanks for that.hows the exhaust sound.will disconecting the egr improve performance.cheers mate

disconnecting the egr won't increase performance by much if at all, what it will stop is getting you intake manifold clogged with crap for the exhaust so therefore help maintain your cars performance and fuel economy

my clutch pedal on my 306 is really hard to push down and my clutch is really fearce it bites as soon as you let the pedal up.it is a self adjusting clutch pedal.could my clutch cable need changing.it is a valeo clutch plate.cheers for any info.

also a little test to see if your clutch is on it's way out, park your car on a flat surface, put the handbrake on and put it into second and try a move away on only the clutch, if it stalls then the clutch itself is fine (this only works if the handbrake is good though)

jarrus, what you suggested earlier in thread, is this somthing that can be done to most td cars or specific to pugs ?
ive checked in with celtic tuning to get my beamer remapped/chipped and wondered if i need to do any other mods first before said remap/chip ?

It does work on other turbo diesel but only old ones with mechanical injections systems,

your bmw has an ecu that can be remapped for more power but you might be able to tweak the turbo yourself though, but if celtic have set it, I wouldn't mess with it,
so you couldn't do it on your car but you certainly could do it on others,

there are 405's and 406's you can do this to as well as 205's
land rover discovery 200's and 300's can have something like this done,

but I should mention now that not all mechanical diesels can be tuned like this though this is a definitive guide to the 306 and all that share the same or similar engine that was made by PSA(405 and 205 have an xud8 which is basically he same the 406 has THE same engine in and so does some Citroen cars and vans, as well as fiat vans, some rovers have the xud in them as well), other models may vary so please do your research before you mess with your car

cheers for advice mate.i have changed the pressure plate and clutch plate new release bearing as well.so clutch is fine.its just hard to push down and bites as soon as you let it up.is it hard to do cable any tips or advice welcome.
