What cars can you think about that used to be all the rage but are rarely ever seen on our roads now?

Astra GTE
Ford Capri
MG Maestro
Peugeot 309GTi

Did they all rust away or were they prone to be involved in accidents? Why do you think these cars died out and which ones do you miss seeing?

Any of the 1980s Lancias. Delta, Thema and what about the Dedra! Really wanted a Dedra turbo.
Citroen BX Gti or CX turbo. The AX Gti was a little rocket.
Ford Sierras are pretty rare now. Come to think of it can't remember seeing an Escort for ages.
My boss had 2 MG Maestro 2.0 Efi and they both had rust bubbles on the roof and A post within the 1st year.

They are about, just not driven much. Visit the Classic Ford Show at Santa Pod in early July, the number of Escorts, Cortinas, Sierras and Anglias on display is staggering.

Yeah Shepton Mallet showground will have a big display of Cortinas in November at the Restoration show. There will be one there with just 19000 on the clock I'll post some pictures up.

Yes please.

Only 19000? That is sad. These cars need to be used, not wrapped in moth balls. This is a museum piece, not a vehicle.

The reason all austins rusted within the first year was the assembly line!
Bare metal parts where put on a conveyer belt which where sent from one factory to the other but in between the factory's they were exposed to the elements. And no preparation was done to them before spraying (except being dried off) and I know this for fact as my brother in law used to work there
