It basically has 2 pistons per cylinder and a second engine can be fired up when power is needed without interruption.
Power gains, economy gains, lower weight and reduction in manufacturing costs are all cited as potential benefits of this engine.
I wonder if the 2 pistons would act to balance the crank as it rotates.
