I'm just wondering how many of you guy's and girls have bent the truth slightly on your car insurance in order to make it a little bit more reasonable? I'm sure we are all guilty of it some time during our driving life.

Does everyone inform there insurance company as soon as they mod there car? Even little things like air filters?

Does everyone inform there insurance company as soon as they get a NAP for a motoring offence, or do they leave it until its time to insure there vehicle the following year?

Does anyone bend the truth as to what job your doing, or how many cars are in your house-hold?

I'm Not Telling lol Due to the Fact my Car pictures are posted with the Reg Number, not wanting insurance companies phoning me up but yeah your stand correct, everyone lies about something even if it's so small like you do 7000 miles a year even tho last year you did 7010 and did not pay extra lol

I didn't tell my insurance company at the time when I got my SP30. But in all fairness, I didn't actually know you had to! There is actually a thing on moneysavingexpert that will allow you to pick a ''alternative'' job title, in the aid of saving money on insurance. Its all down to the wording of you job I think.

Obtaining a certificate of motor insurance by deception is a criminal offence so deliberately misleading insurers is ultimately pointless and could land you in hot water. I know people who lied about their age, previous claims and convictions who got caught out from when I was a broker and the police came in to take a statement from me.

Accidents and convictions are generally (check your policy) notifiable at the renewal date and cannot be taken into account on the current year. Modifications are usually quite obvious and need to be notified immediately just as you would if you changed your car.

Now when it comes to presentation of facts you can have a little leeway. Putting an office worker might work out cheaper than putting down you are a computer programmer and other things like this where minor definition and opinion come into play. Equally a sports exhaust can just as easily be a larger bore stainless steel exhaust with a 10 year guarantee....

never any mods on my cars to worry about telling them
but my kitt is insurced as a kitt rep just incase but if it is smashed it wont be put back as kitt just a normal trans am

most difficult seems to be "job description" - they give a very poor choice and so this is why i call up each time going with a new company and discuss this with them.

Not that I've ever lied on my insurance forms, but the "job description" field always gets me. How many people's jobs now fit into the pre-defined options they have there? That's why speaking to someone on the phone will ALWAYS be so much better :)

Yeah, Like I said before, I always go onto Money Saving Expert site where if you input your job description, they will tell you the cheapest wording for that job. Like mine could be one of many. Computer tech, Telecommunication Engineer/Manager, Data processor, IT specialist, ect ect. As there are so many fields, they will give you the cheapest option, its worth looking at.
