Hello there, I'm a new member so hopefully I have posted this in the right section.

I've just bought my first car and wondering what model it was..

I don't know a lot about cars engine wise, upgrades etc. But before purchasing I did some research and thought (hoped) the 306 I was purchasing was XSI 2litre (2000cc) but turns out the car has an XR badge on the back..
I tried researching XR 306 but couldn't find much at all, only pictures on google images.. My 306 hasn't got the hubcap wheels that were on the google pictures, it has alloy's that look like the ones off the 2L but than again it hasn't got the little body kit/fog lights at the bottom of the front bumper.. I know anyone could change the wheels but I'm just curious about the model etc

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

Here are a few photos (Peugeot 1997 306 XR..) I'll have to get one of the engine later

Oops, sorry!

Thanks mate :)

According to wiki the XR spec is one of the lower the trim levels & a look on the uk Autotrader suggests it came in as a 1.6 & a 1.8. Doesn't the paperwork give you a clue? A pic of the engine bay would help a lot. :D

hi mate, I'd just did your documents out and have a look on there, it should tell you straight away what engine is in your motor.

finding the engine code would be your best bet, or look on the registration book see if it says on there as its easy to fit the alloys etc to make it look like a higher spec model
