Hi,
My car is an N reg drab green 5-door Proton Persona 1.6LXi that I've spent a lot of time turning into a car that's actually worth driving.....

The engine has been swapped out for a 12K miles 1.8 4G93 unit, fitted with a breathed head that I laboured over through the course of an entire winter (after first making a DIY flow bench using to non-EU compliant hoovers). The head is fitted with 304 degree cams and fed by a set of zx9r 40mm CVR carbs. The exhaust gases flow out through a 4-1 extractor into a stainless 2 1/4 inch exhaust. Sparks management is through a Megajolt and EDIS setup.

The suspension is home made coilovers all around and braking is a mixture of EVOIII and the original system. Every panel that could be skinned has been and all the glass has been replaced by polycarb (except windscreen).

Over the years its been nitrous assisted, fuel injected and run on ethanol, but is now back on petrol.

Any car can be fast and good fun. Its just that some need more work than others.

Hi and welcome.

Interesting project. Get to 10 posts ASAP so you can post photos of the home made coilovers, these intrigue me.

May I as the site admin wish you a very warm welcome to TorqueCars. It is really nice to meet you and I hope you'll be spending some time with us over the months to come.

You'll find us one of the friendliest and most helpful car tuning forums around.

What plans do you have for your car or have you done it all now and are looking for a new challenge? I'm sure we can give you lots of ideas and suggestions if you need any.

Cheers,
I may have over-egged the coilover thing: the rears are AVO units meant for a turreted RWD escort with some suitable sized bushes made to suit. The fronts are the original struts with the 'basket' thing cut off and coilover sleeves welded on. The springs are 500lb units at the front and 200lb units at the back. It runs pretty flat in the corners, but thats's as much to do wit the lowered centre of gravity as anything else.

The next job is to get the bike carbs fully dialed in (with my brand new 3D PRINTED Velocity Stacks / Trumpets) and get the Megajolt set up properly too.

Steve the coilovers are most likely to be the sleeve type where the spring seat is removed to install the threaded slip over sleeve.
I have this type on my front suspension and am having the rears converted very soon along with uprated springs& dampers.

 should have read the last post

I've recorded a bit of video of my engine on open induction. Sounds like a bit of a beast and cant wait to find out how it performs on full throttle on a RR
