Guess the car

Saw this interesting prototype body at Sherborne show last weekend. Anyone seen this shape before or know what its built on? I spoke to the owner and was amazed at the powerplant and what he'd done

It was a bit rough and required some more restoration but it drives Must be a nightmare to park with that tiny rear window and huge back end, it did have some maplin like parking sensors stuck on back though :blink:

The front inditaters and rear lights look like their from a MK2 MR2.

The back reminds me of a tvr. The front still looks American to me.

If that is as it was out the factory that is one seriously rare car.

however I suspect it isnt and that it is a kit .

Assuming that the number plate is from the original donor cars that would make it 1991 ish . As it is rear engined an mr2 based kit is probably favourite , maybe with a V6 engine
Or a vw or with an early 911 engine. The badge looks vaugely porsche(ish)

Well done Loz n Sleeper. It's a Maclaren prototype body they were working on according to the owner and yes it's now based on a MR2. Every time someone asked "what engine is it?" expecting a reply of a V8 or something supercar worthy, they gave a surprised "oh really" when they heard the reply. Got a lot of presence though when you look at it.

Yeah it had a badge with an A and a S on it. I heard Auto Special mentioned.
